Favourite Game Original Sound Track (OST)

Mine would have to be Shadow of the Colossus at the moment. All the way the soundtrack sets the scene perfectly... 'something's not quite right'. It's like you get a feeling that your not supposed to here or doing what your doing. Even when your fighting a Colossus, there's a somewhat reluctant sense of urgency, as if to tell you that the Colossus's aren't really a threat. And a Colossus dies, there is no fanfare, more that you've done something terribly wrong. It's that sort of offset that won me over, that the music not only sounded great, but hinted to the twist story element.

A dream is a fantasy, if you achieve that fantasy it was never a dream to begin with.

Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts, Halo.
Can't choose between.

EDIT: I just checked out those Colossus links and they are incredible.

Quake.
Halo.

From the 16-bits though it has to be Shadow of the Beast, that has an epic title track, so do all of the Bitmap Bros games, SpeedBall2 and Gods especially.

Old times, loved the game and the music .

-Crysis
-Descent 2
-Descent 3
-S.L.A.I. (although they were mostly compilation of various artists)
-Halo 2
-Sonic The Hedgehog (16-bit SEGA version)
-Armored Core: NEXUS
-Armored Core: Last Raven

Isn't it funny how any 'your favourite song' results in me listing thousands xD? Still, there are some pretty good OSTs there.

Mr Pig and the Tale of the Fallen Egg
Space Aliens From Space!

... oh wait, those are my soundtracks

Well, most Final Fantasies have amazing st's.
So... FF6, 7, 8, 9, 10 are my favourites I guess.
Although the soundtrack of the original Spyro the Dragon game fits extremely well with the setting of that game so I guess it could qualify as well.

FF8 without a doubt. Absolute genius work they did.

EDIT: Oi! Sasuke! Didn't know that was you who posted this. Good to see you still hang out around here. I think I'll shoot you an e-mail tomorrow. We've e-mailed each other before. Just want to keep some some lines open with people I respect here. Your GUI and engine work was a stroke of genius.

Final Fantasy VII and VIII has some really good tracks. I love Lost Odyssey's soundtrack, I've got it on my iPod. Essentially Nobuo Uematsu is awesome.

Bioshock definitely had a good soundtrack too, it really set the scene.

Having just bought the limited edition version of Final Fantasy XIII, I've got the soundtrack, it's interesting, but alas, the guy they've got now is no Nobuo Uematsu.

Original Zelda, Not that current productions are not incredible, but I am more impressed by what they accomplished with limited resources over just lumping some audio track onto a cd/dvd.

Yeah, Bioshock's sound track is genius as well. It's original, it fits the era, it's a mood setter, it's just great!

Exactly. I started a thread like this and had the same in there. Shadow of the Colossus has the best soundtrack. Althou Left 4 Dead 2's is a great one too. But SOTC's is propably better. Epic...

"Oh my hero, so far away now.
Will I ever see your smile?
Love goes away, like night into day.
It's just a fading dream.

I'm the darkness, you're the stars.
Our love is brighter than the sun.
For eternity, for me there can be,
Only you, my chosen one...

Must I forget you? Our solemn promise?
Will autumn take the place of spring?
What shall I do? I'm lost without you.
Speak to me once more!"
...

The Final Fantasy 6 soundtrack was/is pretty awesome. Starting the game with Terra's/Overworld song was great. Kefka's theme was pretty cool too. It's one of the first songs I taught myself on the guitar.

Also, I agree completely with the Shadow of the Colossus comments. Great soundtrack. Also, if you like the classical video game music, Total Annihilation had a great soundtrack as well.

I also like the Doom3 title menu song.

If you see this Sid, I'll reply to your email later, I just got my internet back on sorry. For some reason it would turn on and off every few minutes, then it went down.

Back on topic, Chrono Trigger's was awesome, especially the surprise with Robo's theme, I couldn't believe it.
