I have it. It's severely lacking in balanced gameplay, the graphics aren't that good (PlayStation 2 more like), and it quickly gets annoying / boring.

Sniping is one of the only things people ever want to do, and that's because 2 shots from the semi-auto will kill. This ensures that people sit across the map (because every map appears to have no visual obstructions), not to mention all of the weapons are INCREDIBLY unbalanced.

Also, most of the time in a full 256 player room, you never even see the other platoon. They are off on another section of the map doing some other objective, come to think of it you really only see about 30 people on your team or so. And often, you never even come close to reaching 256. You end up with about 120-160 max.

Graphically, the game is ugly. The textures look like plastic, the guns look like plastic, and pretty much everything looks unreal.

Certainly not worth the $60 price tag. If you want to play, buy a used one.

Temporarly away from the Phoenix Sentry.

I would rather trade the graphics for lag free preformance and large scale gameplay anyday.

Um... have you seen how big the maps are? they are in different sections of the map.

I respect your opinion though crispex. I think they are just testing to see how far the ps3 can go with the large scale combat.

@Fuzz I love this game too haha. Everytime I play I get hooked.... Love being squad leader or platoon leader, gives me a sense of power haha

I don't see why people complain about the graphics, I think the graphics are fine.

I LOVED it and thought it was worth every cent of the 60 dollar price tag, it feels like a real war when it doesn't go "kill death kill death kill death capture kill death kill kill death"

but rather

"spawn, make way to capture point, encounter resistance, about 30 enemies, kill 1 or 2, get to point, do necessary things at point, camp there defending, stick in cover, another point being captured, go to defend it, kill a few, reach objective capture, kill, death"

I think it totally owned MW2, and BFBC2 barely edged it out.

SVER FTW.

I'm surprised people on this site are complaining about graphics.
Graphics are good IMO, not stunning but who cares?

Well, it annoys me that we have all this technology but yet nobody has figured out how to make loads of players with great graphics, it's a weakness in game development and I'd like to see it go further over the years.

The gameplay is what annoys me. I figured if the gameplay wasn't good, the graphics could redeem it, again I was wrong. The gameplay isn't even team-based at all. It's people going around shooting wildly. The game that most impressed me with team work, and still does to this day, is the Battlefield series. Don't know why, but people work together on those games thus making for some intense battles.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

You have to be in a clan to get the most out of MAG, once your in a clan with people who are actually interested in winning - it becomes much more of a team effort. It's crazy, but MAG is completely a team game, if you don't work as a team you will loose. There are a lot of selfish snipers playing, thinking that somehow sniping is the way to earn XP. The most XP is gained by doing the objectives and defending them, but it all relies on a good commander giving objectives in the bigger games. If all the noobs would get a clue as to how to play the game, then it would be immense.
For me, the most annoying thing is being on Valor - they have the hardest levels to defend, and the hardest levels to attack, SVER don't know they are born!.

My brother used to play it, before Friday at least, because on Friday we both got Red Dead, and MAG has been gathering dust ever since. In fact everythings gathering dust except our 360 controllers.

If they had the technology then they'd be doing it already.

Network speeds are not really good enough to house lots of players in realtime, upload speeds for instance are different per player, so no matter if you have a crazy broadband connection, upload speeds are still rubbish. MAG probably compartmentalises the players, like only updating players that are relevant - if someone is half a mile away, then there's no need to update that player.

The current generation of consoles are kinda pushing their capabilities already, Red Dead Redemption has some crazy detail on screen, I don't think we'll see much more than that from the 360 or PS3. The worst thing ever is when they try and push too hard - just to be able to claim some 'record'. Like when they have hundreds of enemies, but to do that they have to be low quality, practically no AI, no challenge to kill.

What I like about MAG, is the fact that you could go and look for trouble and find it - massive maps with actual players in, they might not stand in a queue for you to own, but at least they are out there. People just got stuck in a rut with BF2, you can walk for miles and not see anyone, pointless IMO. People who play MAG properly see plenty of action - people who lie on their bellies and snipe the whole match, well they can go to hell and die.

I love MAG. I don't get what people say about the graphics. They look good to me, certainly far beyond PS2 (perhaps you need to go back and look at it).

I'm not a fan of sniping in most games so I didn't even bother in MAG. I honestly don't think of it as much of a major threat in MAG. I rather rarely get sniped, but then again I actually push my way into the CQB action and focus just as much on how I get there as how I fight when I'm there. If you cross an empty field with a straight LOS to the enemy then the game events will parallel what would happen in real life. There is something to be said for the man who thinks about how he moves around the map.

I honestly haven't played much with friends yet. Only recently got a Bluetooth headset so I'm planning on doing it soon. I've always been an objective-oriented player though, with virtually any game I've played. Some of my favorite COD:MW2 moments were hurdling myself into the fray to plant a bomb as my friends watched me get blown to bits just moments after it armed
