The title basically says it.

Where does an indie developer advertise their new game?

Internet, word of mouth or try and get it published.

Thats what i would do.

You could use mochimedia either paid ads or traffic sharing ads. That way your ad is appearing to people who are interested in games.

Any suggested websites? Gaming forums, etc?

Paid ads may come later, but it's expensive to get any kind of decent response out of those. Typical click-through is less than 4% and retention of those is less than 1%.

Off the top of my head, if I wanted to spread the news as far and wide as possible, I'd post in a whole bunch of forums. The forums for, say, Introversion, Cactus and Penny Arcade would have an indie audience. The problem, of course, would be that if you sign up to post your game on there, people might get annoyed. Still, if you did it nicely they might not be too hostile.

Could you also email gamasutra about your game? Every week they have a roundup of the best indie games. Though, it might make more sense to contact indiegames.com, which is gamasutra's sister-site (if that's the right term) focussing on indie games.

Well, it is a DBPro project. It's just not ready for prime time exposure just yet.

Parent site might fit better.

Not a bad idea though.

I guess when the time comes I'll have to sit down for a week or so and go find every little gamer forum I can and politely announce the game.

I'd be tempted to send it to the indie games reviewers at G4TV.com.

I guess we'll see what happens. I'm hoping to have it done by the end of this summer.

Newgrounds. Tons of people visit and it is free to upload your game there.

Mine an Asteric's Upcoming indie developer website would also be a good place to start when we finish it :3

@Duke E,
It's been listed on there for a year in the Beta list. Although I haven't updated it in a while because of the rewrite, but that should be a good place to list it once the game is finished.
