Was a very good game, regardless of the U.S. beating England at their own game.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

Both teams were really weak.

England were just a total shambles - some really nice crosses / chances that just failed to 'come together' as well as some really atrocious playing from 'star' players (Gerrard constantly giving the ball away, Lampard being wholly useless as always)

USA seemed slightly more organised - when they had the ball they made use of it (England just seemed to waste time passing it back and forth) but they seemed to lack the attacking strength / crosses (as evidenced by the many shots on target done from a distance rather than close to goal)

In short, two weak/mediocre teams that will certainly be obliterated by a stronger team (Either of them vs. Brazil, Portugal, Mexico, Netherlands etc. = bye bye World Cup)

Whilst both teams sucked, this is not a win for either side. A draw isn't a win. Especially when your only goal comes from a goalie fumble (it was a nice shot on target but you can't really say it was the USA's strength that secured them the game for them.)

EDIT:

Also, that GIF is pretty rubbish - the camera shot completely misses the part where he is actually holding the ball and then drops it (which is why it's such a humiliating goal for him)

Neither side was particularly convincing. England had some nice setups and attempts, but Tim Howard did a great job covering his goal. Robert Green is never going to live down his mistake, poor guy.

As a Scottish born Briton, I'm forced by law to congratulate any team that humiliates England...

Purely because while we never get into the competition, England never wins it. Although, being Scottish means I also care very little about football anyway...

Its your webbed feet that stop you mate

I was on bar staff last night to help with the match, All the tv's went to adverts for a few seconds, then came back on an England had scored! I then got soaked by some drunk bugger who threw his pint in the air. Ughh i hate being on clean up lol.

An yes that pic is crap, you dont see him grasping the ball, its the spin that threw out of his hands.

I think the Norfolk thing is also a joke - people around the fens are also (jokingly) said to have webbed fingers etc.

Funny, I've always though the 1-1 was a draw.

Man, the day that England fails to beat America at football is a sad day indeed.

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

Such a day would be in the past - they beat us 1-0 in 1950

That said, it was another ~40 before they qualified again

That's the most depressing thing I've ever heard.

Despite this, England has a reputation of getting into swing late, it even applies to the second half, they always play better in the second half, they flowed much better in the game, and frankly, were unlucky not to score again. Whats worrying though was that some of the top team members such as Rooney and Lampard really were not getting a good flow at all. Next game should prove to be better, with more practice

(Im a geordie, so any brits will know the situation with our passion for football up here )

Im not very intrested in football, but how have you americans managed to get it into your head that you won?!?!?!. Surely 1-1 means both sides are equal?
