This should be moved to the Geek Culture Board since it has nothing to do with DBPro. Good question though!

I take it your after market research then?

Skill driven, easy command system, basic Class types with ability to merge and multi class. Like runescapes skill system but unlocked after X level of your basic class. So class trees.

My favourite online game is Evony. I like it because it has good adverts which reflect the content of the game.

I have a subscription to a game that's sent to my email every month or so (I don't remember subscribing to it though, TBH). Anyway, I believe it's set in midevial or egyptian times, because every sequel seems to be the same; "I'm a prince, and I want to send you my family fortune of $1,000,000. But first, you will need to send me your personal information so I can transfer the funds to your bank account".

I never really understood the storyline though. I've been playing every month for the last year, and the only things that seem to change with every sequel is the name of the prince, his location, and the amount of money I could win by playing. Does anyone know how to get past the first level?

Hes either a bot or a member who used the sign up page thinking it was a thread submission form. Seen a few members who have done that and are now stuck with the name of their first thread.

My favourite online game at the moment is Company of Heroes.

I miss that game. It's the only MMORPG that I played for 2 years straight. I miss having that store that I had in the game, doing surveys for minerals and such every week for my guild, etc... It was one of the most fun MMORPGs I've played.

Now if I want my MMO sci fi fix, I just play AO since it's free and you can play through a third of the current game (which is actually the entire original game before the expansions came out).

I dont know what is it about me but every online game i ever tried i never ended up getting addicted to it. even after lvl 20. eventually i just abandoned my account.interestingly enough, i only spentjust one hour playing the real WoW (played on a private server for about a week before that) i dont know what is it about me, it just dosent take me in for some reason. But WoW IS actually my favorite online games because i like the graphical style of it. chunky a little cartoony, kinda colorful and everything is x5 bigger than normal. The world is very beautifully made, i could spend hours just looking at the scenery in WoW. Even tho i played the real thing for just 1 hour, i spent a lot of time watching frieds play and really enjoyed it. kinda annoying when your friends dont wanna stop and look at the scenery for a while. so thats why WoW is my favorite game. My other favorite online game is Asherons Call (the forst one) first of all i am a fan of old chunky 3d graphics. the first time i seen my brother play Asherons Call in 2000, i was like... WOW! A VIDEOGAME WITH A COMPLETLEY OPEN WORLD! THATS SOOO AMAZING! so this one i liked because its the first mmorpg i actually saw, also the graphics were pretty nice for the time. A year ago i had a nostalgia attack and i badly wanted to play asherons call. so i actually payed the monthly subscription to play the game.i spent 2 weeks playing it (the longest time i spent playing mmorpg) all my friends were like WTF? why are you playing an mmorpg from the stone age? get WoW! Also Asherons call is waay different from most mmorpgs today. for example there arent areas where certain monsters live and keep respawning, you usually find 2 or three of them in a large area. and if you kill them, they stay dead for at least a day before anything else spawns there. there is also a unique combat/magic system too. and finally it had beautiful scenery even with the chunky graphics. Damn i wanna play that game right now!

P.S.
if WoW was a single player RPG with all the mmorpg stereotypes and common mmorpg game mechanics removed, basically if WOW was more like morrowind or oblivion or something, id totally play it for hours non stop!

One of the reasons I don't like mmorpgs is:

Waaaaay too many people playing.

I know games have way improved since Ultima Online (really the only mmorpg I have ever played) but there are still too many people playing them. I don't like PKers and I don't like people pestering me while I am trying to enjoy a game. "All right! I almost killed this giant rat! Only 300 more to level up!!! (as another person comes in, kills it, and gets the xp for it.) And I don't like "grinding" to gain levels. I'd rather just kill the enemies on my path to the next level.

I like playing games at my own leisure, and actually, I just prefer to play single player games. I can pause the game if I need to get up for some water, if someone calls me, my wife needs something, and etc. and I don't have to worry about missing anything.

Sorry if I have offended any night elf mohawks... or whatever.

My green thumb grew the tree my Trojan War horse was crafted from. With roses in our pockets we rally round the tombstones. Ashes to ashes, we all fall down.

cant really happen in most MMORPGs, as if u attack it, it is your XP ^^

well, usually you have a "PvP option" or there is specific servers for PvP. so thats usually not a problem either =)

@quik: or a starcraft 2

But yeah, I only play WoW because of the world they've created and the gameplay. What I do kinda is is the fact that the texture resolutions are so damn low...

I know xD. But ey, I think that the same amount of people would whine if they just stayed with vanilla. And there are some PS with vanilla so you can still play.

And yeah, I play SC beta 2. IT ROCKS, all the people who are not in. Don't listen to all the whines, it is just awesome.

I separated what i think of as online games (java, flash etc) and MMO's. For an MMO I love DDO, I like that the characters are so customizable and not clones of each other save a few talents and gear and the quests are great. I Played WOW for 2 years and found the only thing to do was go after achievement points and I had almost all of those. The gear became pointless as they kept making it really simple to get stuff just a half tier below the top raid by doing heroics. The graphics (in game) always annoyed me in WOW.

Dungeons & dragons online?

yeah i love it, except for that there is just 2 cities which are free to play /first city ("tutorial city) and the second city\

achievements are just for fun and personal challange...

yeah people say that, but say, don't you rather Raid for gear than do lousy heroics? And there is improved tier 9 /you get it from Trial of the crusader\ and improved tier 10 (get it from ICC) and then there is Heroic tier 10, which you get from ICC heroic...

so this basicly means there are 3 more tiers than you said...

@Thraxas and kraven
LOL that made my day! Though I think there's an upgrade you can purchase called Spam Filter.

For MMO's, Ive only played WoW, Runescape, a little AO and the EVE trial. Personally I liked WoW quite a bit, but it is very easy to fall into a routine and get bored. It's not very dynamic. Runescape was even worse. Though I never got very far in EVE, it seemed like it had potential.
As for graphics, I'll go with EVE, probably just because I really like the whole space setting. WoW is good, but its just ridiculous when you're wearing shoulder pieces that are four times as big as your head.

@PAGAN, Oblivion and Morrowind would still beat out a non MMO WoW, imo. Now if Bethesda made TES MMO... oh damn, THAT would be amazing.
