I have searched around for one and Garage games make a temple version which you’re more or less hacking, but I haven't found one. If TGC made a RTS creator I think the demand would be worth TGC time.

I would buy it for sure.

What do you think should TGC make an RTS Creator something like FPS Creator?

Also how much would you be willing to pay for it?

I think TGC could easly charge £29.99 to £39.99 for it, but that is only my opinion.

The AI alone would take months to sort out, mainly due to the user being able to edit and modify the certain attributes. Size, collision, action, modifiers, the list would double, triple that of fpsc's model attributes.

It would be nice, but unlikly to come together. I thought that there was dbpro rts template?

There is a great RTS editor: the galaxy editor, all you need to do is buy SCII on july 27th and with the editor you can create any game you like. And you can even sell your maps ( which then are games on their own ) through blizzard. Nice ey

This isn't the first thread I've seen asking for a RTS game maker, so it's possible that TGC have already looked into the idea and ruled it out on business grounds.

Either that or they are very secretive...

There are alot of engines which support RTS, but my point is there is none that I could find using Google or any other search engine that did in the same manner as FPS Creator. Alot of RTS games offer level editers which you could point and click to create maps. I would imagine that would be something alot of users would like.

One example was dungon keeper, which was a very easy editer to use and once it was created you could play the game. It was point and click which was very good for it's day.

You should check out: The Spring Project

I downloaded it at one point, but never played with it much. It looks to use the supreme commander engine or something. There are a few games people have made with it listed there, and some look pretty decent.

I have had a look at Spring Project and I have to say it is impressive, but it does not have the point and click off which I was refering to. I wouldn't imagine it would be that hard for TGC to put something together, not that I'm a programmer. However TGC could easly use the same method they are using for FPS Creator having it part open sourced and closed source. In that way TGC would get the benfit of the experienced programmers within this forum to help build it. Just an idea.

You can't point and click an RTS, it's too open ended...

The player dictates where everything goes, what units to use, etc. I can't think of a way to do this that wouldn't require scripting. Scripting what resources there are, what each unit requires to produce, special gameplay elements, commander unit special abilities, etc, etc...

I've seen some awesome stuff done in UDK, but I imagine that's too complex for what you're looking for...

What are you talking about? I made a point 'n' click RTS creator earlier this week!

@CoffeeGrunt I think you have misread my first post its not that I'm looking for an RTS Creator I'm saying that I think TGC could make one along the lines of FPS Creator. It is not impossible for one to be made and as I had stated I was using FPS Creator as an example so off course scripting could or would have to be part of the engine.

I had used Dungon Keeper as example of what I have used in the pass which was along the lines of what I trying to explain, but maybe it was not the best example.

I think it could probably be done with a point and click environment, but other than the models in the game and a few minor changes here and there, (and without extensive scripting like CoffeeGrunt said) each game made with it would feel and play pretty much the same. It would probably be fun for a little bit, but with a lack of variety, I think it would get stale.

Edit: Dungon Keeper was a wicked good game.

Yeah, Ai Would take a pretty long time to craft considering all the changes the user could make...........

How would it work exactly? I mean, in a point and click manner? The only thing I can think of is editing maps, but that's a map editor. Maybe have some kind of form where you can add interface graphics and add/remove/edit resources, units, buildings etc.

To me, a overall editor, on the lines of like UDK or Unity, would be best, a more visual editor would prove better then just a creator. So you don't nessecarily have to code all of the game at once, but apply the scripts you want them to be with. Like Unity how you can just drag and drop any behaviour script you like + animations etc. all in one easy to use visual interface.
