Congrats dude! It's going to be a fierce battle of who gets the VBOTB of 2010 . I honestly can't decide at the moment. All BOTBs are great.

Deflate the mystery of living in the most heartless fashion I could ever imagine. No pretense of decor.

Okay, so first! Congrats on the BOTB, I'm not the one who judges who should get one and who wouldn't so Good Job!

Quote: " "The Story" "

Its clearly a copy of Modern Warfare 2. The whole setting seems COD inspired. Adding a Zombievirus doesn't change it.

35 %

Quote: " "Overall Presentation" "

Vishnu Protection and good titlescreens and loadingscreens. Acceptable.

55%

Quote: " " Game Mechanics " "

The Damage HUD was actually cool and I liked it much better than the original one. In Game Popups etc. where well designed but seemed unorganized and the often didn't really match. It was okay.

The Usual Stuff, but the ironsight aiming was way too slow for some weapons. The G36's sights wheren't accurate at all.

45%

Quote: "" Gameplay ""

The Gameplay was okay and action driven. The game clearly focusses on gunfight. The enemies where taken from various modelpacks and didn't fit at all. Sometimes you take down soldiers, sometimes people that look like mercenary's and then extremely lowpoly people in blue shirts. The Player had to kill them quickly so some might not have noticed, but this really disappointed me. It seems like you are switching the Charackter every few levels, ans so does the inventory. The Game is strictly linear...so all you have to do is shooting everything that moves and use a switch here and there.

The worst part was shooting this scientist thats just standing there passively.

Some stuff was really awesome though. Like those bugs in the ventshaft. But I doubt you made these on your own?

Okay:
45%

Quote: " " Level-Design " "

I liked you're youtube video and the overall presentation in the thread so the game was really disappointing for me. I don't want to insult you but the leveldesign was completely rubish.
The rooms used some unedited textures from FilterForge that really didn't match any of your randomly placed entities. There was absolutely no athmosphere in this game. There are those high detailed shaded Metrotheater objects right next to complete lowquality material. Its almost like the levels have been made with a generator, thats randomly placing stuff anywhere. I know that the gameplay is supposed to be fast, but that doesn't mean that the levels should be rushed too.

The lightmapping was okay for this kind of game. I was always able to see enough to proceed. Thats all.

25%

Quote: " "Graphics" "

It starts with this horribly camouflaged shotgun that looks like plastic and this overall feel of randomly placed objects by many various authors with many various styles. I prefer to go over to the next point because I don't like being demotivational. But seriously... some guns in enemy hands didn't have even a texture and the P90 had no magazine in it. How did you miss that?

30%

Quote: " " Sounds " "

The Voice acting was really good! It MADE this game. Good job on the radiomessages and the russian speech.
How did you make the music? I kinda enjoyed it.
Another let down was the lag of ambientsounds in the level, but thats not important since you've been firing a gun all the time.
Some reload sounds don't fit the animation. But what where you thinking as you gave the silenced pistol the same firing sound as its slide?

40%

Quote: " " Notes " "

- The Skybox didn't match the ISS at all...it was more like being in a plane.

- What was that american chap doing in this russian bunker typing?

- Did you like the visuals of your game yourself?

Quote: " " Overall Rating " "

40 % Another FPSC Game... not less and not more. Its okay and it has some nice Gameplay that you don't see in every FPSC Game. But it also has some awful flaws that really push it under the 50.
But well, KeithC thinks this is BOTB so its BOTB.

Quote: " Trivia/other notes "

- I wanted to point a lot of things out via screenshots...but apparently I can't make some with the Vishnu Locker.

- I hope your next project will be far better than this.

Good critique Wolf. It is true that there were some areas that I felt could have used some work; but overall, I enjoyed the experience. Still; it's always good to have a fellow BOTB holder give an honest critique of your work. Hopefully the advice is taken with a grain of salt and improvements are made in the future.

I don't want to put the game down, but I do really agree with Wolf. I didn't find much special in the game.

I'll do a quick review (using Wolf's format )...

Story

Honestly, I think it's one of the most overused cliches for a storyline ever. Enough of the one-man-army "We need you to stop the Russians from blowing everyone up." games. Heck, it could have been better if it was, say, China. Russia is the enemy in EVERY modern shooter now.

2/10

Overall Presentation

I liked the Vishnu and loading screens. Change the loading bar. Vishnu took 15 minutes to unpack, which was aggravating.

5/10

Game Mechanics

Well, it's your typical FPSC game. Not much to say. Ironsights were slow to aim, not the most accurate thing in the world.
I had a REALLY hard time finding enough ammo and health. After I met the president, I would always respawn with 8hp. That was so frustrating. Not only that, but I had less ammo every time because I needed to kill the enemies with 8hp. Needless to say, I ran out of lives.

3/10

Gameplay

Run and gun FPSC game. Linear level design, easy enemies which were heat-seeking stationary turrets disguised as humans. The gun inventory was extremely inconsistent. I thought a few of the enemies were out of place, especially at the space station. Why would there be armed astronauts and armed guards? One or the other, especially in space.

5/10

Level Design

Extremely linear, poorly placed enemies that could shoot through doors. Entities didn't match the environment and feel like they were sporadically placed.

3/10

Graphics

I didn't really have a problem with the shotgun camouflage like Wolf. I thought it looked decent. I mainly have a problem with being able to see normal maps on some objects. I don't know what went wrong there, but it happened. However, the use of so many different artists created a contrast in quality of models, textures, etc. which took away from the suspension of disbelief which video games follow.

4/10

Sounds

Voice acting was great for an FPSC game. However, I'm not happy about you claiming the music as your own. The song repeatedly used in battles is "Path to Victory" in Music-Diminished studios on TGC store. I'm not sure if that's you, but if it's not, you definitely haven't made all the tracks.

I'm going to have to go with my gut and say you didn't make Path to Victory, so that deducts a bit from your score, unfortunately. I'd be happy to change it if you made the song

6/10

Overall Rating

4/10

Sorry, just didn't seem BOTB for me.

Some of the music was not made by me, true.

Im glad of your honest opinion and it will help me to improve, the story was made by me a long time ago, and i did not based it on CoD, i understand people think i did. And Bc2 is also about russians, loads of games do.

Ill try to explain/answer some of the critique

Quote: """ Gameplay """

I didnt focused on the graphics, and yes the game is linear. The game is focused on fighting. The soldiers were various, some are mercenaries, like in that stealth level, they are just cheap hired guards you know. Wolf what do you call low quality stuff?

I think the game was good, but of cours that's my opinion, i also dont agree with the camouflage.

Could you also note wich entities you mean that are out of place so i can improve those things.

Though like i said, thanks for the fair critique and i will improve my other games

Wolf, Is this about because you really not like the game or is it because we recieved BOTB?

Agree with the above statement. Let's not forget that being a BOTB holder is also about how you conduct yourself on the Forums.

Well, let me correct myself a bit. I really enjoyed it until the space station. I really like the events with radio, then enemies spawning again. That was pretty well done. The space station was I believe where I saw normal maps on some crates by the airduct. It was where the scattering roaches were, the part where you need to jump on the boxes.

Quote: "Everyone know the stupid AI-SHOOT-TROUGH-DOOR >: D Bug ...."

Indeed, pretty much everyone knows about it, but it can be avoided by a few simple adjustments to the enemies' positions.

Ultranationalist Russians, the ISS, Russians being the evil guys attacking the USA...thats a lot of similarity, but if you're story's older, I take it back. There are a lot of Story Ideas that I had before it was in games too. Like Bioshock

Quote: " Wolf, Is this about because you really not like the game or is it because we recieved BOTB?"

I liked the game AND I received BOTB too so I don't see your point. The game is above the usual stuff that FPSC users release and I did something with similar gameplay a while ago.
Its my honest opinion on it. I didn't aim to insult any of you. I also don't think that I'm picking on minor bugs. Sorry for misunderstanding. If there is any point you absolutely disagree with me, just tell me.
Quote: "
Everyone know the stupid AI-SHOOT-TROUGH-DOOR >: D Bug ...."

I didn't mention that...and even after hours of scriptwriting, they still do this in my games too. I also didn't mention some lightmapping flaws and the visual normalmaps on shaded entities. Because its really not your fault.

Quote: "
Anyway .. I think its a bit of shamefull that after recieving BOTB, You do this ...."

There was a guy, Gets, I used to criticise him as he started and he insulted me and tried to prove that he is much better than I am. He ended up being a lot better than I am by taking my hints.
At the moment, I have no Idea how he does his levels myself

What I want to say is that I don't want to write destructive comments like "Good game" but honest, constructive critics. Thats all...I'm not stuck up nor am I ignorant. I'm just addicted to FPSC

Quote: "
It is true that there were some areas that I felt could have used some work; but overall, I enjoyed the experience."

Thats exactly the way it is.

Quote: "Wolf what do you call low quality stuff? "

Place a Metro Theater Pack Asset right next to a Modelpack 2 one.
And then Place a Modelpack 1 character right next to one of John Fletcher's Civil Soldiers.

They are completely different.

Its a bit like using Modelpack 5 and Modelpack 10 Weapons in the same games. (you might smile now, but there are people that do this and tell me they don't see any real difference -.-)

I hope I could clear all missunderstandings. I really don't want to insult anyone.

Ok Wolf, I take my accusations back.
Your doing nothing more than giving Fair Critism and i have to take that.
I was just a bit Pissed, that it happend AFTER getting BOTB.
Anyway.....

And indeed, the game isn't Flawless, i had some bugs myself (OR its my damned PC).
Accept my Apologies.

@mgarand, I really like your game - you've opened my eyes to look for the posibilities of FPSC.Excellent work, but if you added some more custom models(not eai or tgc, but your own ones), it would be better, you see.In spite of this, I like it, and I will give my BOTB vote for this game.
