I know some you on here like to write, so if you do, then this might interest you. Me and a couple of friends have set up a website, group, blog and forum for writers under the guise of 'The Wiskwerrit' and the idea is to help other budding writers on the internet improve their skills and to also become a community of writers. If we generate enough users, we might go as far as running it as a small business alongside any work we have.

URL:
The Wiskwerrit

What I'm looking for is people who're interested in signing up to our forums (currently, I have to approve your entry to the forums, just because I don't want it properly open yet) and making use of the website and blog. You might be selected for one of our workshops/feedback days (Which are Wednesdays), I gave feedback to Hobgoblin Lord last week on our blog (on top of what I gave on these forums).

Most importantly, I want to take down any suggestions, what people want out of a writing website and what people think could be improved or any general suggestions.

I'll lay down the website below:
The Blog -> Everyday there's a new post from one of the three of us, containing: how-to information, feedback, exercises, advice, views and information related to writing.
The Forums -> The main part means you can ask questions about writing, post your work up, get and give feedback, offer discussions over the blog and get feedback on what you've done with exercises left on the blog...and also, there's a Role Play section, where we've gone a role-play going.
The Website -> Up-to-date news on the group, a section for articles we'll be producing for writers - perhaps a 'getting started' piece as well as other advice. Currently I've put one of my blog posts there as a placeholder.
The Group -> Eventually it'll be there to organize meet-ups. The meet-ups would be to socialize, but also try something practical.

Feedback on design is also welcome - the website is running with Joomla, Blog is Wordpress and forums are SMF.

And of course, we can have one place for all of Apollo's writers to meet.

Cheers.

Looks really cool. When I get round to finishing my writing ill post my stuff. But I dont know where on the forum I could put it because theres no 'showcase' area.

Also, the links on the website dont link to the .co.cc domain, they link to the .22web.net domain

Ill get ready to post some stuff soon!

Looks real pro. Think I'll sign up, haven't done much writing lately and need to get back into it.

Only members can view the 'Writing' section. I want to eventually find a way to secure posted work on the forums - some people are weary of content posted because of people plagiarizing, so I think it's a bit safer to hide stuff. However, I've put the recommendation to post on MyELibrary, which basically offers a signed and dated PDF and plagiarism vault so that you can prove that your work is your work. But that is just so those who are paranoid about what they're written being stolen feel safer posting.

I'll look forward to offering any feedback.

.co.cc is a free domain that allows you to cloak your usual URL...that is a temporary set up because I plan on purchasing a domain name for it, but I don't have any money to spare as I'm currently looking for work.

Cheers, I can give credit to Joomla for the template style and CMS system. Keep an eye on the blog, we post up exercises 3 times a week - so you might find something to inspire more writing.

Days on the blog are set as so:

Sunday - Image-based exercises
Monday - Kain's blog post
Tuesday - Synonym based exercises
Wednesday - Feedback day
Thursday - My blog post
Friday - Freewriting exercises
Saturday - Ceri's blog post

Looks cool Sepp, I shall tell friends about this. Small possibility I may participate(lost track of the part of me that enjoyed diving into creative writing many years ago), but most certainly will read the entries.

Check out this WIP flash game from the Global Game Jam!

I'll sign up. I could do with some feedback on a particular piece of writing I did a while ago, and... well, it's a bit difficult to motivate myself to look over it again.

^I know the feeling, I'm having the same problem with 'The Delusion Wing', I've got the first draft, it's only 50,000 words, but it'll probably be longer after the redrafts, though it needs a LOT of work, considering it was my NaNoWriMo piece.

But it'll be great to see you all there.

I'm also open to suggestions on what kind of things you're looking for in helping you with your writing. From the looks of it, most you guys need motivation - I'd probably recommend following the blog as we have day-to-day entries. But also, I might set up a role play for new members to join in - as updating a role play can actually keep you in the mood for writing - even if you're only adding a couple of lines to the RP each time you post.

If you're looking to have anything critiqued, Darth Kiwi, I might be willing to add it to the to-do list of Workshop Wednesdays (Ceri's doing it tomorrow and I don't know what she's doing), but because I know you're working on a novel and are serious about it, it might be something to post on the forum, or if you're worried about people you don't want reading it, we probably could arrange something.

No doubt we'll be posting some of our own stuff to get critiqued. We're adopting a policy of, "give feedback, get feedback" just to make it fair, on a lot of writers' forums I've seen people happily post up their work for feedback but aren't prepared to offer any themselves. To me, that's pretty silly, because if you do offer feedback, you're improving your critique skills, which is fantastic for when you come to redraft your own work.

It'll be cool to see you both on there.

Cheers.
