Hey, My parents are planning on going away camping for the whole of the summer holidays, and typically, I have to come along. >.<

Unfortunately there is no power at the place we are going.

So, I was wondering if anybody knows where I can buy 12v laptop adapters. I have a Lenovo R61.

Or, if not, does anybody know whether this will suffice http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SM2913---100W-INVERTER-24v-DC---230v-***-AC-IEC-C13_W0QQitemZ250650053869QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=&rvr_id=&cguid=79c581f11290a0e2048350d3ff409fb8#ht_2935wt_1138

Thanks.

Generator?

Theres no way you'd be able to even keep the batteries going for that long, not at about £30 a pop. If you have an iPod touch, maybe get a generator thing for that (I think there are a couple). Other than that, why not just camp!, there are worse things than being away from the PC for a while, take some sketch pads etc and come up with a game design while your away, take lots of photo's for textures. Make the most of it without relying on a laptop.

I second Van B's suggestion.

Personally, I look forward to the times when I haven't got access to a computer and thus no Internet. It forces me to do something else (read a book, write something, draw, go for walks, blah blah blah) and it can be quite refreshing to get away from technology for a bit, whether it's only a couple of days or a few weeks.

So suck it up, enjoy the outdoors, and don't worry about the Internet. It will still be here when you get back.

I suppose you have a point!

I've always been meaning to get some game design done, I may as well get it done now.

I saw something in one of the sales sheets that come from the door the other day. Could have been Tesco, could have been Halfords, dunno. Anyway it was a device that attached to your car ciggie lighter and then converted it into a standard plug socket. Apparently could then run exactly like you were plugging it into a plug at home. Either that or one that directly fits your laptop power socket.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

Couldn't find the exact one. But this looks pretty much the same thing:-

I'm not so familiar with laptops so I wouldn't know, but do laptops use normal batteries too? If so, use them.

Otherwise, use a car charger or get, I dunno, a solar powered latop? Do those exist yet? No? Just use the car charger then.

I've got a couple (not the same one) and they work great. I always keep one in my truck, and one in my wife's car. Just remember that the longer you use it, and the more juice being used, it can get really hot. (at least mine do)
