Hmm... this thread reminds me, that I haven't played Team Fortress 2 for a long time! Some TF2 and L4D2 would be awesome!

The Game Creators appreciates your enthusiasm and support for our company. However I must remind users that TGC, The Game Creators, and any associated branding, logo's or copyrights, may not be used without permission. From what I understand this Lan Party is a paid for event. As such it must seek permission before using the TGC branding. Even if the event was free, the hosts are still required to seek permission.

Furthermore, I've discussed the age issue with Rick Vanner, TGC's AUP will be updated in the near future to reflect that no under 18 may post their age on our website.

3.18 - If you are under the age of 18, you may not post your age, post a self image, or self video. Doing so may result in a temporary or full ban.

The moderators are here to keep you safe, and our rules will now reflect that.

Thank you.

I would definitely be up for some Killing Floor, relaxed difficulty and a long game - lots of zombie slaying, co-op fun. I get my rear-end handed to me in CS:S, so KF is like the ideal Steam shooter for me.

If there were an XBox Live party going on, I probably would join in online. Using steam sadly wouldn't be wise for me - my computer chokes trying to play anything that has 3D graphics.

If anybody is interested in doing something XBox Live related too, then they're welcome to add me: SeppukuA

List of my XBL games:
Gears of War 2
Bioshock 2
Borderlands (Level 48 Soldier)
Halo 3

I've got 3 months left of my XBLG membership.

I was thinking of getting Killing Floor some time ago, but never did... it was at the same times, when I bought L4D2, so that's propably why I never bought KF. And I am not very good at TF2 eather, but I see myself as a decent Pyro. I am better at Left 4 Dead 2 thou. Got almost all the achievements, but when trying to get expert and realism expert achievements, everyone rage quits at the finale, and as you may know... bots are capable of almost nothing...

It doesn't require a CD since you can just download all the content through Steam.

thats why you should play L4D2 and 1 with friends on a LAN or over internet, not with randoms =)

Obviously you are a little confused. As far as I know, the Mods were made to enforce the AUP, and if they are making up some bullcrap Custom Unwritten Mod Read Only AUP then they are not doing their job by following the AUP.

@BigAdd,

I find it funny that you brought up rule number 3.17. Lets dissect this rule:

Quote: "3.17 Our forums are moderated by both TGC employees and trusted non-paid members of the public who volunteer their services and time for the benefit of the community. By using our forums you automatically agree that they cannot be held personally responsible for any actions arising from these forums. You agree that moderators shall, at their discretion, determine what constitutes a violation of these terms, along with generally accepted netiquette standards, and can take action against those who voilate these rules."

First Sentence basically says you are unpaid. Second sentence says that they are not responsible for anything. Now, the 3rd sentence. Lets read this:

Quote: "You agree that moderators shall, at their discretion, determine what constitutes a violation of these terms, along with generally accepted netiquette standards, and can take action against those who voilate these rules."

Ok, so whats that says is that Moderators can determine what they think breaks the rules of the AUP. Now by being above 13 at the time of the post breaking the rules? I would surely say not. Now for the accepted Netiquette standards... As far as history with forums and the net, this is about the only forum that has an age limit for doing some stuff, so we can't really say its a standard by any means can we. I signed up for Yahoo Mail at about the Age of 10.

Oh and btw, I think its pretty bad that as a Mod you go around breaking rules.

"Since when is it my rule?

The only problem here is that you have a problem with me since our little incident a few months ago.
And the very fact you sent an email to TGC just goes to show that you want some way to "get me back" for catching you out.

I don't see why you have to get so upset about a little request? Nobody was slapped or banned.

Oh well. "

Thats a 3.12 Break

I would consider that trolling. Sean was just saying that he has the right to only follow the official rules, which quite frankly he does because it says no where in the AUP that you can make your own rules, but back to the rule break. He was just saying that, and then you bring up some incident of the past, and put him down for it. So, even better you broke rule 3.11 and rule 3.12.

How great of you.

ya but now they are enforcing the AUP.

It's solving problems already!

But... seriously, I'd say its time to get off this 13 year old horse (wait whut?) and back to business as usual before there's more bloodshed.

This really bothers me, the mods have a good reason to be enforcing that rule, even if it isn't "official", it makes sense and is only for your own safety. This thread was supposed to be a fresh start, not another flame war. How hard is it to just not post your age?

Its not about being over 13 or whatever, some people just have a problem with authority, especially if we have moderated them in the past.

The over 18 rule has been around for ages, but people don't care about that. They will take any excuse they can to try and get at you.

Mod justice is pure.
Mod justice is swift.

Moderators are here to moderate, not just make sure you abide by the AUP, but to make sure that people don't abuse the forum. If your own abuse of the forum does not fall outside of the AUP then we deal with it anyway. This is something you accepted when you signed the AUP when you joined, there's no choice in the matter, there's so little point to arguing with it that it's not even funny.

This forum has moderators because users here should not have to even read some of the tripe that some people post. I mean, there's a few folk out there who think they are surfing the edge of the AUP, but they don't see the dozen or so sharks under the surface, comparing notes and deciding when someone just had their last chance to improve their attitude. Sometimes all we can do, is hand people a shovel.

I mean do we really need to add this to the AUP...

''Moderators shall determine when someone is trolling, being deliberately negative, or being a general git to other forum members (moderators included), and shall act accordingly. Your statutory rights to shut up are not affected. Other forums are available.''

Sound's like a swell idea; ignoring the hater's that are concerned about meeting up from the internet to a LAN event (Really, are you thinking that someone like Matuka will come along and mug us all? [Wait, I am Matuka..])

I'll talk with my parent's a bit before saying anything other then this; if we plan on playing CS:S on a local LAN serv (That's decent, I mean, really decent, good hit reg, at least 500fps, etc), then I'll be more than happy to install server mods and config's that'll improve the game-play on the server (And the config's may improve the net-coding, idkfa). Such mod's like PMA 3.3b, zBlock 4.5 (When released), and SourceTV (To record them golden moments and allow people to spectate).

Regarding age's, I agree that we shouldn't post our age on here (Unless over 18), but I believe that people of whom are over 13 should be allowed into the LAN event, I mean, you never know, they could be very mature. I've met a few mature people in my life of whom are like 8 year's old, and they weren't trying to impress me neither.

TL;DR - Everyone of over the age of 13 should be allowed into the LAN event area, but they cannot post their age nor reveal it publicly on the forum unless over 18. I can help sort out the CS:Source LAN server with some custom server mod's (after initial set-up).

Have a nice day<3!

I might be in hospital at the time. How close is the event to the RVI? Maybe I could drag my drip along.

In defense of mods.

This is a forum, not a court room. The rules are for members, not for mods. The rules are to give forum users an idea of what acceptable usage of the forum is. Why? Because I don't see TGC hiring a solicitor to write their forums rules so that the moderators enforce a specific standard that if caught stepping out of line of, for it to be a misuse of conduct. Forums rules are full of loopholes. Therefore, it's easy to lawyer and usually people who try to get one up on the mods by lawyering get banned - I've noticed this with forums I moderate, but it seems Apollo doesn't like it either.

Moderators try to stick as much as they can to the rules laid out, but thankfully, as it's not a legal document, they are able to make a move on situations where the rules are not of any use, or where the rules don't actually call for the best course of action. People under 18 can be vulnerable on the internet, therefore, enforcing 18 instead of 13 (which was agreed by mods...I remember this being said many times before).

But to lawyer here, myself, in that rule and to play devil's advocate, "You agree that moderators shall, at their discretion, determine what constitutes a violation of these terms, along with generally accepted netiquette standards, and can take action against those who voilate these rules."

Where BiggAdd has quoted said rule, where Robert F feels it doesn't apply, isn't BiggAdd just determining at his own discretion what violates said rule? (Not what members think violate it)

Sorry for not answering your questions. I will soon be posting another thread on this subject about a possible meetup like this.

I understand i was justifiably banned by Bigadd because or arguing. Since then i have talked to him about the subject and i would like to ask for you all to accept my apology for breaching rules and causing other members to get in the way of MOD work.

For those who do not know, RobertF was perma banned for arguing with Bigadd, and then flaming on MSN towards him. I hope noone will do this again because of a thread and/or post(s) i have made again. The MODS are here for a reason, and if you dont obey the rules expect to be slapper or banned.

Give me another two or three days and i will re-create the thread for a meetup at a later date at the same place. I hope this would be acceptable and i expect a few of you to join in!

Pop me an email if you are thinking about attending so i can get a rough idea if its worth it before re-posting later on.

MOD's, please lock this thread as no more posts are needed on this subject until the re-posted thread with updated information that isnt full of flaming comments is made within the next few days.
