Hey all,

I'm wondering if there's any dbp tools or plugins that are needed. I'm thinking about a new project to work on, and I want to try my hand at making some tools or plugins.

Any ideas?

I was thinking something along the lines of a text plugin, as anything even close to useful is not really implemented at all. But I was wondering what you guys think.

You mean like a text editor plugin?

I think there's a plugin that supports a rich text box, but a text editor would be pretty handy, for editors and stuff like that, built in script editing.

I'm talking about in-game text plugin. Features including wordwrapping, clipping, alignment, justification, bitmap fonts, etc etc.

Just something I know I've needed for many projects. I have something written in DBPro natively but it's pretty slow.

But that's neither here nor there, I'm wondering if anyone is looking for any specific plugins for dbpro.

I agree, a built-in text editor would be pretty sweet.

This maybe what you were looking for: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=69221&b=5

It doesn't do bitmap fonts, but it does allow you to draw anti-aliased text, perform text wrapping, justification, boldening and italicizing text, as well as a huge amount of other things like drawing 3d lines, 3d circles, 3d boxes and more.

It can do everything DBP's basic 2D drawing commands can as well, faster than DBP can.

He isn't searching for a plugin, he wants to create his own plugin or tool, but doesn't know what kind of features could go into these.

if it's not too hard, an environmental audio effects plugin that supports occlusion and echos based on the geometry in the levels, and where you can define material types with different properties, and assign the material to an object. and then have a "play eax sound" command that emits a sound in 3d space. so, you could make something like an SMOD wrapper. I could give you a link to describe it more, but if it's too much work, that's ok.

How about a true Windows interface plugin. One that uses the MFC.

The fastest code is the code never written.

I'm working on a project where-in it would be nice to rip tracks directly off a CD to copy to the hard drive. Only I'm having an OS problem. When I try to read a CD, I only see .CDA files which point to the digital Audio data but don't themselves contain the data. To pull the data, I would need to be able to read sectors directly off the CD. I've already searched the DBPro forums and can't find any functions for this in any of the existing dlls.

I don't know if such a thing would be useful to anyone else here but if you're really bored and looking for something to do...

I guess the ability to open the CD drive and then pull off 256 or 512 or 1024 bytes at a time (whatever is a common sector size for a CD) into a memblock is basically what I'm looking for.

The answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything? "Tea for Two". Deep Thought was Dyslexic.
