As some members here may be aware, I've been doing mostly fractal work lately. As I've been broadening my base of viewers, having a few people who seem to diligently follow my work, I've noticed I get a lot more feedback and suggestions/constructive criticism from viewers, and even other fractal artists.

As another attempt to get my art "out there" I suppose, I've made a facebook "fan" page for my work, titling it "Fractality". The main reason I'm posting it here isn't simply for advertisement, but knowing the userbase here, I figured I could get some decent feedback and suggestions for making the group more useful/attractive.

So far my ideas have mostly been to show my art as it's made, and also feature other fractal artists around the web. I've been trying to come up with some way to make the page slightly more involved, in terms of involving viewers, and that's where I'm stuck.

Does anyone here have experience with facebook pages, or suggestions for this one?

You can find the page here.

Any feedback/suggestions, or even just "liking" it on facebook, are all greatly appreciated. I hope this post doesn't come off as blatant advertising, as that's not really what I'm going for. Thanks in advance.

Nice work, but they seem too abstract and mirrored. I do this kind of art and it's good to do some variations sometimes . Try and experiment with different forms of abstract and you'll get the hang of which one you're best at . Brilliant work anyhow, it looks promising .

-EDIT- I joined/liked your page too, I won't give out my name here heaven knows who's waiting for me....

With most fractal work, at least in terms of apophysis, it is entirely abstract, and repeated in some form. While shapes can be produced and repetition can be removed, it's the nature of fractals to be repeated in some way. They're all based on the same basic logic as Serpenski's Gasket, infinitely repeating inside of themselves:

Excuse my bluntness, but aren't these created by some kind of fractal tool? It would be akin to displaying pictures of mountainscapes created with Bryce, would it not?

Not really. While Apophysis has pre-loaded flames, and a function called mutations, which essentially equate to being the same as mountainscapes created with Bryce, most fractal work is much more involved.

When making a fractal, there's a lot of math and understanding involved. Each transform represents an equation, moving points along a 2D or 3D plane. You need to understand how individual equations move points, how each separate transform effects the others, how weight effects a transforms influence over the fractal as a whole, how xaos values effect the interactions of transforms with eachother, what effects rotation and scaling have in different situations, etc etc.

While you can make fractals without any effort or thought, you can easily tell the difference between a fractal that was lazily made with mutations, and a fractal which was actually made with understanding and control.
