Quote: "well there is no sign of any struggle between people and glados, no dead bodies, no blood on the walls (exept for the crazy cake person who hid in the walls)no broken equipment, i would think people would be smart enough to react to glados and i would think they would try to put up a fight. at the least people could always shut her down."

Or, maybe they just stopped hiring people after Cave Johnson died and glados was turned on...I love discussing portal's plot.

well i read up on it, turns out that glados ended up locking down the facility and killing almost everyone with neurotoxin (still dosent explain why there are no dead bodies) she imprisoned the girls from "bring your daughter to work day" (Chell is one of them) and used them as test subjects years later after they all grew up meanwhile she worked on the portal project herself

Becouse there is no other people in the facility? All robots? Turrets have no effect on the gas. And think of the children! PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Waaait a second... The ship in the original storyline of HL2 is called the Borealis. Interesting (and I think it shows up in Ep1 or Ep2 in some form?)

EDIT:

Considering how the neurotoxin was used in Portal 1 (in a single room) it's likely they were all killed en mass in a specific room or part of the facility (+ I'm guessing no one would have been in the test chambers anyhow, so that's probably why bodies weren't encountered in there)

Most Half-Life fans had made the Portal connection, due to the "GlaDoS/Borealis" blueprint shown above and the fact that the Borealis shown in EP2 has a large "Aperture Science" container on it.

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

@PAGAN

It's called a broom.

But honestly, if people try to revolt and fail she had every capability to clean it up.

Yeah - but the Borealis goes far beyond just Ep2 - it was supposed to be in the original game (and was intended to be your initial transport to City 17). The ship itself also appears in the leaked version of HL2

Oh yeah, I know all about the HL2 beta. But Aperture was non-existant back then.

what is most interesting to me is that according to the hl2 episode 2 game files, there is actually a backup of glados on the Borealis...3 Gladoses? and Glados in ep3? I hope.

Yeah of course - but it strikes me that choosing to work Aperture into this particular part of the game is interesting in some way. Sure, the boat wasn't used in the original HL2 and even in the beta it couldn't involve Aperture etc. but I'm guessing there's been a bit more of a thought process than just "We have a spare boat we can reuse, let's work Aperture into this". I mean, it isn't just any old boat either - it's an icebreaker

I just think there's something more to it considering the history the Borealis has with the dev. of HL2

And Kleiner says it was made by "his peers at Aperture Science."

Also, I'm guessing it contains human Super Portal tech - hence it's disappearance from it's dry dock. Since the combine will likely activate it and you'll have to stop it while fighting an Advisor - I'm guessing the final chapter will be called Aurora Borealis, because portal storms look kinda like the Northern lights, and Valve loves little scientific tie-ins with their level names...

Gahh! I jumped the gun here getting all excited. I just found out that Portal 2 won't even be released this year, that the release date is being pushed back to 2011.

The reason? Valve says because "making games is hard". Pfft, whatever Valve.

lol. Becouse it's totally not true. Everyone knows that Valve makes their games by imagining it and it jus appears in the computer, as they imagine the game. They are just... out of imagination.

Personally, Apperture Science Laboratories is actually inside of the Borealis. I think everything in Portal has been one big hologram, and then at the end of Portal 2, Chell will exit this hologram and be visited by the G-Man. "You're not supposed to be out yet. No matter, I have some friends who I think will very much like to meet you." Then he dissapears and Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance arrive.

It's not too much to ask for an actual in-game view of Gordon Freeman, is it?

Gman is the selling poing of all halflife games. I mean the actual games are great, but wanting to find out more about the Gman just makes you want to buy a halflife game so much more over a regular fps. like if i had a choice between buying crysis 2 (or some other kickass game with awesome graphics) and halflife ep3 or half life 3 or whatever, i would choose halflife

Valve has the most hilarious quotes...

"A game's late two months, but a bad game sucks forever."

That's like painting a face of god! No!!!!

Well, atleast if he doesen't talk, and runs to Chell, like a first time player and whacks her with a crowbar couple of times, and then jumps idiotically around, breaking the movie-like feel. Just like me when I play HL2 for the 10th time :-P
