I have played nearly all of the elder scrolls (PC and console only, not portable versions) now and i must say the old ones are better than the newer ones, for example Arena! i havent played it but i have read About it! you get to explore every province of tamriel! over 120 real miles!!!, Daggerfall! i have played it, 62 real miles, better combat, better fast travel, a freakin court system!, morrowind, only 6 real miles, but more weapon choices and creatures, npcs, but the animations and combat is crappy, Oblivion, 16 miles, better graphics, Better AI, and OK Combat! what is with bethesda? it seems to go backwards (Besides Graphics)
i wonder what elder scrolls 5 is going to be like?

From what I understand, the 120 real miles is mostly through randomly generated dungeons, Morrowind and Oblivion don't do that. Morrowind focused more on making local cultures and Oblivion expanded more that.

A certain phrase comes to mind, "It's all about quality and not quantity".

OOOH OOOHHH I LOVE TES SERIES!
Daggerfall was a masterpiece for its time, personally i loved daggerfall. One time i decided to just stay in one area of the wilderness, and sleep there and just kill anything that goes by. I stayed at the place for about 4 daggerfall years. (before my laptop started crashing from all the corpses) It was freaky, i must have had several hundred (if not a thousand) corpses all over the place it looked like a frigging battlefield. Also the dungeons are just awesome. Altho i have to admit my favorite game is morrowind. What i love about it is the totally alien world, the unique culture, and the atmosphere was done very well. The ashlanders and dunmer were awesome! I like the original graphics better than the better bodies and other high poly and texture replacments. The original graphics just had everything right. Altho the battle system sucked and i guess they could have had better animations and better quests (btw the storyline was pretty good too). Some french guy a while ago made this converter that takes all content from morrowind converts it to oblivion format and assembles everything in your oblivion game. so it turned out kinda like oblivion with morrowind graphics Unfourtunatley that was abandoned and it was never really made into a full game. they are making an oblivion version of morrowind but to avoid legal issues they are using oblivion content and making their own too. I looked at it, its just not the same, dosent even look the same, looks terrible in my opinion.

Oblivion is great but again a few things i dont like, some of them are fixed by mods tho. the battle system is pretty much the best i ever seen in any game. but i dont like is the whole typical medeval fantasy setting but i guess you cant do anything about that. Also the dark elves. In morrowind dunmer/ashlanders were these badass agressive natives who will cut you if you make a wrong move and they had awesome badass voices. and their slang was cool like Swit and Fetcher. in oblivion dark elves are these snobby sounding whimps from oxford or something. and unlike morrowind dunmer Cyrodil dark elves seem to be more fat. Unlike oblivion Morrowind had that Wild West feeling to it. so i like it more also MW is the first tes game i played and pretty much the first game with a totally open world that i have ever seen. I was AWED by the amount of detail like instead of havilng a simple block to represent a door handle, they actually modeled a door handle I was psyched by that back then. Also morrowind ran terribly on my first computer so i started trying to figure out a way to make my computer faster and thats what got me into computers at the first place. Considering this game stole 3 years of my life (i still havent beat bloodmoon or most of the sidequests, dont get me started on expansions) id say this game was worth it. I do remember how insanely psyched me and my friend were when i got my preordered copy of oblivion. Also spent a good deal of time playing that, didnt even toch the expansions. BTW, there remaking morrowind engine in open sourse (because the original engine was very buggy)theyve been doing it for a while now. There are tons of modding projects going on for morrowind considering the game is 8 years old OOOH MAN THAT WAS A GOOD RANT! thankyou everyone!

i heard it was going to be in either late 2010, or early 2011, i heard that it was every province in Tamriel! i hope that is it because i want to explore valenwood so bad!, i just hope they enable modding on the console version because i do some modding myself.

Oblivion's combat is my favorite combat out of every game I've ever played, but the backstory of Cyrodiil (where the game takes place) is very bland and hollow compared to the backstory of Vvardenfell (were Morrowind takes place).

Morrowind with mods to make the combat more like Oblivion (they're out there, you just have to look) is my favorite game of all time.

Well, Fallout 3 wasn't that long ago. Even if they had started TES 5 immediately after finishing Fallout 3, it would still probably a few more years to finish it properly. There is a discussion going on, some of it talking about what TES 5 will be about, here:

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/infernal-takeaways?page=1

It starts talking about TES 5 around where my first post is (I'm Herakles)

IF they are to make TES 5, i hope they are taking their time.

Take your time Bethesda! I love all of their games, they are great game devs, they just need to think through a few mechanics in their engines i believe^^

i dont really play morrowind often, i might every once in awhile, but i can still say its a good game, just by reading and seeing other people play. and also TES might make different Provinces addons, but Probally not all of them on one disk. i would like at least 2 provinces though.

*make a mod that removes trolls*
makes it sound like it is one click away...

even though it is easy as heck to mod, it still requires learning=P

its easy to start. you will proboly start with making interiors, modifying exteriors, and if you keep at ityou will start learning more advanced stuff like scripting. I never got too much into it, i made a few mods and published one that was finished. it was a house mod ciaus cosades bacement, i made a place there where the player can chill.

OHHH I REMEMBER A FUNNY STORY!
Ok so this was back when i was 13-14 or something. i had this charecter called Stanislav who wore dark brotherhood armor and had an umbra sword (a large 2 hander claymore enchanted with 100% soultrap) so back then whats now called Planet Elder scrolls used to be called Morrowind summit (i miss it) so anyway: I uploaded like 100 screenshots of my charecter with really bad and cheezy titles for them, It took a long time for them to appear on the website so i kinda forgot about them. A month later i went to russia for summer vacation. When i came back 2 months later, my friends were like DUDE! YOUR SCREENSHOTS ARE ALL OVER morrowind summit and EVERYONE on the forums there is talking about your Charecter and making fun of you for how stupid your captions are! It was like a train hit me in the face!. Then later someone even made a mod about my charecter Stanislav! He was like thus undefeatable high elf with dark brotherhood armor and an umbra sword with all skills at 100.

obviosly some people wanted to kill my charecter like here
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=POTD.Detail&id=91

here is another one of my fans
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=POTD.Detail&id=180

i cant find the mod tho i guess it was removed a long time ago

i am not gonna post any of my own screens here some of them are still hanging around planet elder scrolls, and they are actually kinda stupid and i dont want to embarress myself if you want to see them you can look for them yourselves.

removing trolls is as simple as deleting every troll spawn point, or reducing a chance of troll spawning to 0% or just scaling down the trolls stats so they are easy to kill

Are you talking about tamriel rebuilt?
i think they abandoned that mod because they realized they dont have enough skilled artists to make such a huge mod that would live up to oblivions next gen stuff. So they left it to a few people who work on it on the side instead, I mean this isnt morrowind, the models are a lot more high poly and you need to give them shaders and stuff. Instead they are sticking to morrowind rebuilt mod for now considering they already done most of the work on the project and released 2 or 3 maps already

Reallys? You can has medal when you try to kill the biggest troll in the whole game, you know who I'm talking about yeah that is right the Uderfrykte Matron. And then you can has medal.lol

Also if you never found the Uderfrykte it is a nice little reference towards Morrowind or more to the point Bloodmoon. Also you may find Svenja Snow-Song well just in less fortunate circumstances.

it sucks that there are always a few versions of whatever places in tamriel. There is a morrowind version of cyrodill (i dont think it was ever released) there is oblivion version of morrowind which kinda sucks compared to originall morrowind. there is now 2 hammerfell mods The one mentioned above and the tamriel rebuilt versions. i thin there are 2 skyrim mods in the making too

I have her torso, and feasted on Uderfrykte fat. Yeh, I'm bad, I killed an effectively endangered species in a computer game...

I have that Elswyr mod, pity Martigen's Monster mod doesn't touch it - it feels too empt otherwise...

Wow Elswhyer mod? I seriosly wonder how the Bethesdas version of that is gonna look like? Another piint that i dont like about oblivion is the kajiit and aragonians are all upright and human looking, i just thought the morrowinds version of the beast races is way cooler. they looked like actual beast races not... furries

Make sure your mods are in a good load order using Oblivion Mod Manager and make a Bashed Patch with Wrye Bash.

TES5 is going to be MMORPG, there is a engine (cant remember its name) Which is being used by the bethseda online company.

And it would make sense to put all of tamriel into a MMORPG? instead of a plain RPG wouldnt it?

Well, I just hope that jermey soule makes the soundtrack and that there is going to be first person, then I am happy.

False, Bethesda said that they are making an MMO but it has nothing to do with the Elder Scrolls. Thank God.

Hmm...Runeskulls? That sounds interesting. What exactly is it? Midas' Magic is legit. How's the Lost Spires? I had it installed at one point but I installed it wrong so I never got past the first room in the building where you get your quests.

i would hate to see a tes mmorpg it would completley ruin everything. in a single player game the world feels pretty real and you get absorbed into it, mmorpg just feels like a virtual world where people hang out, sell stuff and be jerks to people and pwn n00bz

Basically Ubered up Sigil stones you get in random drops, pretty handy to have for enchantments...

Quite tough, but pretty fun as well - one of the few mods to have voice acting, and it's top of the Hall of Fame on TESNexus and Planet Elder Scrolls, so it must be good...

It has voice acting? That's pretty legit. How is the voice acting?

I am immensely satisfied with Oblivion on PC right now because I replaced so much of the vanilla audio with better replacement audio from the modding community. And I added 5 amazing music packs to the original soundtrack, which makes things feel so much more fresh. As well as all of the texture mods like Qarl's and the UI mods. It feels like a different game sometimes. I'm loving it.

I downloaded a couple of music packs - makes it that much more varied, which is Oblivion's main problem, it's big, but not too varied...

The voice acting's not bad, it is a free indie production, but each character has their own actor as far as I've seen, so much better than the four voice actors who've done the rest of the game...

EDIT: This is all Free, i want to use it for a learning experience.

ok... no one... But anyway yeah, to me oblivion lacked weapons and lore, morrowind has soooo much history behind it, plus more weapons than oblivion, it could of at least added throwing weapons, or scythes! they must have gotten lazy
