Alright, 3 years ago, I had to unhook my main computer for construction. I have been using my laptop since then, and problems began. I haven't been able to buffer YouTube videos and downloads have stopped. I hooked my computer up again today, hoping that it would solve these problems, but nope. Any suggestions on what I should do?

So how exactly is hooking up a Desktop to the network meant to fix download speed issues?

Use this website http://speedtest.net/ to find out what speed you are getting on your PC that will narrow down the list of possible issues.

Ok your speeds coming from your ISP are more than adequate for watching videos and downloads.

Do both machines suffer from this trouble or just the laptop?
This can't be your Desktop PC causing the issues it has nothing to do with that PC as your getting fast speeds its leading me towards thinking you have a faulty router or network card, but a faulty router is more likely.

I suggest you contact your ISP this is something they should be able to fix for you i don't think many users here could give you the level of support you will need so give them a call and they should be able to help.
