I was recently inspired to dig up some unfinnished work I had laying around. A "VERY" big thanks to Bond1 for his tutorials.

This is "Big Daddy Diver Dan" He's my rendering of a Big Daddy. Different enough, so as not to offend anyone. Let me know what you think?

In- Game screenie....

Action shot, heh, heh....(with bloom turned off).

Thanks.

Um! you gotta be psychic, just this minute working on an underwater city skybox. That is one awesome character model I know I created a dive helmet hud with animated bubbles etc but for the life of me cant find the durned thing, though I am pretty sure I could rustle up the script and bubbles for ya if you wanted to create the inside of the helmet (hud) for yourself.

It looks great as does all your stuff but I would make the glass a little more scratched up and dirty

Actally I'd love to get it to glow, so it can be seen even in a totally dark room. But I'm not sure how to go about doing that. ...Yet!

Somewhere on here, I remember seeing a thread with some character shaders that let you have glowing eyes and such, but I cant remember where I saw it.

Ok, I need a MOD to let me know if it's alright to post a download for this. Obviously, I'ts not an actual rip-off from the game "Bioshock", more, an interpritation.

lol, Yeah I know, I'm reaching here.

let me know please, Thanks.

Nice work CP

For making the glass glow you could look into emissive shaders.

Looks awesome! And you don't need a mods permission to post this, any more than I need permission to sell a model pack of zombies inspired by L4D.

As long as it's your own work, you could pretty much copy the design down to the last rivet if you wanted to...

I watched him do "Big Daddy Diver Dan" and he may have gotten the idea from BioShock, but, this is all his own creation. It was amazing to watch him do.

Sweet. I could actually use this in my next project - has nothing to do with water or Bioshock, but he looks like a containment kinda guy - could work with a flamer...

I overlayed some blue/green in your Spec map and it came out quite cool

You got the scale just right for Big Bad Dan to feel quite daunting in game CP

NBT: I noticed you used the old D2 texture. Sorry, I did'nt mean to include those. Use the D2, and D textures that are in the texturebank instead. It fixes the Buckles, and adds a few minor details to the model. You can trash the ones in the entitybank.

I like the render alot. I'm still working on getting those spec maps "just right", for all my old and new projects. Eventually I want to retexture My entire "Sci-Fi" and "Dark City" collections to use shaders.

Quote: "Hmmm, Easy one, Use these textures instead. "

They are exactly the same textures I'm using CP lol

Edit: Well that was interesting. I deleted the D2 textures (.dds and the .tga one) from the actual dig daddy entity folder and the big daddy was white (i.e. no texture) in the map editor and invisible in game. On copying the D2 texture from the texture bank into the entity folder he is fine in the map editor and in game.

I am using v1.18b1, so not sure if you have to have a copy of the D2 in the same folder as the .fpe for characters or not ??

Edit 2: I then set it to use fastbone.fx and the model was not invisible in game, just white.

So it seems it uses the (or any) D2 in the actual characters entity folder and ignores the one set in the texture path, as you can see in the picture below. I copied the D2 from the texturebank folder into the entity folder and the buckles are now fine. So with charters placing the _D2 and _D in the texturebank folder is just a waste of disc space ??

Wow, That is wierd. I'm using the new 1.17 at the moment. Here is the only part that has the changes. Try deleteing the .bin, and .dbo files, And make sure that all the textures ( D, D2 ) have this part as shown.

Edit: OK, There you go. I'm still confused as to why it's not reading the path set in the .fpe ?????

Man, I love that "glowing" look in the faceplate, in that shot!

@Cosmic Prophet

It has to be said this model is 1st rate. I actually thought it was a Bioshock rip for a moment.

Very generous to hand this one out so thanks very much. Your really producing some fantastic content.

Which modelling / texturing software do you use?

Nothing wrong with your model CP (which I love to bits by the way ) it's either a 1.18b1 thing? or just the way FPSC works, as I have noticed nearly all characters have their textures actually in the entity folder

Quote: "CP wrote: Man, I love that "glowing" look in the faceplate, in that shot!"

lol thats just an orange glow in the Spec map added to a little glow in the D2 (both attached).

Thanks Nomad Soul. I'm really proud of how this one turned out. It's really the first "Quality" Character I've done. It's rigged to the standard biped, with stock animations, so dont expect too much out of him.

I still feel I need to Improve in a lot of areas, but I'm studying hard, and hope to be able to move on to new things (Like Advanced animation, and Scripting) sometime in the near future.

I Use "Milkshape", and "Hexagon" (From DAZ), for modeling, and "Photoshop" for textures.

NBT: Cool, Thanks. I'll give these a try. Glad you like him brother.
