I played Ocarina of Time for the first time a few years ago and was hooked for about a week. I always though Zelda was a dumb kids game before that.
G-Police - what an awesomely cool game that was, I had it for PC actually but I have downloaded it from Playstation Store
Gran Turismo - It was more fun in the old days when you could do a couple of races and then tune up your crappy little korean micro car and give it a race car paint job and go out and trash the other korean micro cars... but still get whooped by the real racing cars.
Grand Theft Auto - I had a bit of a Rockstar binge and bought all the Grand Theft Autos ever made, the original is the only one I still haven't managed to complete! Play it now and for the first ten minutes you'll be thinking "did I really play this? It's boring" but once you get into it you will appreciate its awesomeness.
I think games nowadays offer too much instant gratification and behind that there's not a lot to keep you interested. If you look at old games like Elite, they are so slow paced and not really that user friendly. I remember when a game came on five floppy discs and you had to read through the 300 page manual BEFORE you could play the game.
