Anyone know why some of my folders suddenly get these subheadings and others don't - and how I can choose to have or not have them? See image below.

On a related matter - why does Vista keep changing the style of a folder? I usually have all of them set to Details - but Vista often changes them to something else when I return to them. I'm sure there's a simple fix for both these issues but I can't find it.

Vista is always doing annoying, unpredictable things on my laptop. It's how vista rolls, man.

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

You need to set the grouping to 'none'.

Thanks - that worked. Took me a while to find that option though.

All I need to know now is why Vista keeps deciding to change this setting.

I think it's due to a very big problem with vista...

Vista bashing over, do you have any other side effects that could indicate an infection of some sort?

Ubuntu Studio FTW.

I stretchy windows.

What other groupings does Vista have I never mess with any Win7 query features except libraries. It's nice being able to have a "Development" library that contains all my Visual Studio Project folders that are in My Documents in addition to the general "dev" folder I put in my home directory.

Check out this WIP flash game from the Global Game Jam!

I need to do it again - and just can't find the grouping option. Anyone know where I might have found it before?

I expected to see it on one of the Folder Options panes but just can't locate the right one.

Edit Never mind. Found it. Just in case I (or anyone else ) has the same problem in future, here's how.

Organize->Layout-> then make sure Menu Bar is ticked (it wasn't on mine)

From the Menu Bar choose View->Group By->(None)

Easy isn't it.

Right-click in the background of a folder (ie. not on an icon) and it should give you a "group by" option in the menu.

Thanks. I would never have thought of that - but probably did by accident before.
