to start with game development again.

12 years ago i was playing with klick and play, after that came the games factory and after that blitz basic (payed 80 euros back then lol)

I still remember the day that there was no professional or shader etc. It was a hefty fight. always discussions about what was better. Darkbasic or Blitz basic.

Back then, blitsbasic was better then darkbasic but harder to code. I met people online and i lost the contact with them.

Now i feel like a old fart... 10 years.... That is alot from somebody's life. knowing i havent coded for so long, i feel ashamed that i lost so many years... Where could i have been now if i just learned it back then? if i kept on pushing to learn it.

But now it is not the time to weep about those lost years.. its not about how good the unreal engine 3 is and how that could apply to my life or the torque engine or any other engine.

I just bought the whole package and now i am gonna stick with it. i am gonna learn it from the free time i will have, and i will create the game i always wanted to create but could not get my sorry ass of my chair to do it.

I might be 25 years old now, but that will not stop me from creating the game i always wanted.

Sorry for my bad english, i am going to improve that in time. as for my game.. I will research alot and use the search button alot to find what help i can get. but if i cannot find a awnser anywhere, i hope you guys are willing to help.

Again, i am sorry for my english, i am not a native speaker of the language but i have taken some courses which will start at the end of this month.

It is always good to see new people making programs. I myself code in Java, If you are serious about programming, I reccomend Java as it is very widespread..

Don't follow in my footsteps... I often walk into walls

don't you mean "could not get my sorry ass IN my chair"?

Remember those old guys? They made epic renders, I think one of them was called DaVinci, and all they used was MS Paint. Sometimes it's just skill....

I wouldn't call them "lost years", I'm sure you've had lots of other experiences and grown as a person which helps with programming too. You will probably have better game ideas now too.

its true that they are not really lost. In the main time i have lived in china, i finished school (well... kind off) and now i am starting off another company.

Yes i learned alot business wise, however i did not learn anything game development wise.

I am gratefull to become a part of this community, as i am sure i will learn alot from you people as i go along the programming road.

As for Java.. I am not going to learn it. The simple reason is that i just bought the Dark Game Studio Bonanza deal, and i am curious what it will bring me.

Games have always been my passion and will always be. There is nothing in this world that will change my mind. It has been there since i was 4 years old and it will stick with me to my grave.

To me, the game studio will just be a tool to create my hobby games. And i would be very happy if i could just create one of the games alone.

Reading my post again makes me ashamed, i mean... DAMN that is some very poor english. i shouldn't really be posting in the middle of the night. Glad you guys didnt really mind it though.

Why?? Your english is not that bad!

As for your return to programming land...WELCOME!

Well, mine too really. Well, it wasn't always my passion, because I started to program 20 years ago, and now I'm 41. But, it will stick with me for the rest of my days, that's for sure. That and making music (preferably Metalmusic). Oh, and art too. That's probably the reason why I love to make games. I can put everything I love to do in it (music, programming, art...).
Since I saw the first games on the Commodore 64, I was just hooked! And, my dream was to make my own games someday.

Cheers

In 3 years time I will have been using a version of these forums and DB in 3 decades of my life. I started in 2000 if I remember rightly and in 3 years I will have used DB in my twenties, thirties, and fourties. I may not use it as much as used to but I still hang around, and it's a pretty scary thought! Still, I have used a version of VB since quite a bit earlier (VB for DOS Whooo!).

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing
