MacPros are very expensive, but they're designed for those who need the kind of power and reliability one of those packs, as well as the insane upgrades you can get for it - you might find your PC equivalent is a Boxxtech and they're damn expensive too.

The Mac Mini was released to be one of the more affordable models, but you can get any mac, except the pros and air, for less than £1000. In fact, the MacBook Pro has gone down in price.

So I'd argue that Macs are affordable, but of course, if you're wanting something cheaper, then yes, you're probably better off with a PC. It's one of the reasons I've stuck with them.

Mac users on the otherhand, my brother's extremely happy with his MacBookPro and my sister, her MacBook. My sister paid exactly the same for her MacBook as I did my Acer on the exact same day, mine was the more powerful machine, yet, her's still lives.

I'm typing this from an iPad and I just got to say.. Apple does NOT know software design. Sorry but It's true. I've also used OSX extensively as my sister owns one, it's terrible. Window management from the dock is broken compared to windows. Macs are not worth the premium you pay from them at all.

If you hate Apples that much why are you using one? If I felt that way about Microsoft Windows I would never touch a PC with their software on it.

For computing, I would never chooose anything other than windows. That's not because I prefer it to mac in any way, simply that I grew up with it and changing now would be difficult - although the few times I have used macs I found them quite ungainly.
No, I think the niche in which apple really excell is handheld products. I could not live without my lil' ipod touch, and the iphone is also excellent. I have yet to see another product which matches their usability. The iPad, meh, I haven't got one and I've only used one a few times, they seem quite fun but not as revolutionary as the iPhone.
So to conclude, Windows for computers and Apple for handhelds seems to be the way (for me at least).

You can get further with a smile and a gun than you can with just a smile.

Seriously? You should really read some specs before making such a claim. And no, you can't "easily" beat an iphone.


The "new" shuffle is a joke really. Advertised as a whole new line up ipods, all redesigned for the first time ever as Jobs says. The Shuffle, now with buttons! You mean like it used to be before Apple got rid of the buttons and people complained? The re-add the buttons and claim it's new again. I like some Apple products, but Steve needs to get off his high-horse during his keynotes.

Have you ever seen the iPhone 4's screen in person? Compare it side-by-side with your favorite Android phone, and you will see how stupid your claim is.

I personally would rather have an Android phone, but since my work bought me and pays for the plan of my iPhone 4, I stuck with the iPhone. I love the phone. I've turned on my ol' ipod touch since then, and the screen looks like crap. It will be hard to go to anything else now that I've seen how beautiful the screen is.

I know the screen isn't everything, but when you're trying to read something on such a small surface, it makes a bigger difference than you might think. I didn't think I would care because i never read anything on my old iPod Touch. But now I don't mind reading things on my iPhone. I read news and such all the time on my iphone now

I have. It wasn't really that special. I mean, I'm sure there is a difference in clarity, but on that small of a screen, upping the resolution becomes pointless at a certain point. I'd rather have an OLED screen for bright vivid colors.

I was wandering around Cambridge earlier today and stepped into the Apple store, I thought I'd see what the newer Macs were like (I need a new comp), and saw their new Mac mini, they don't have a bad spec - they seem to have slightly more power that my laptop was, yet are priced slightly less, £649 isn't bad.

Also, I checked out their little Magic Trackpads, sure it's just an over glorified laptop trackpad used as a main mouse - normally I hate laptop trackpads, but I thought their Magic Trackpad was awesome. Usually I hate using Mac-mice (it always feels weird for me), so if I were to buy a Mac, I'd use one of them.

In fact...when looking at the spec of the Mac Mini, it might be a tempting purchase. I know the RAM is upgradeable, but I'm not sure about other hardware.

2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo (My laptop was 1.8ghz IIRC)
2gb memory, upgradeable to 8gb (My laptop was 4gb, I could only use 3gb, then 1gb failed, so I ended up with 2gb)
320gb HDD (My laptop was 250gb)
GeForce 320M Graphics shared (Mine was a GeForce 9500M shared)

Price: £649 (I paid £699 for my laptop)

It's powerful and reliable enough for exactly what I need to do. With its HDMI port I can connect it with my HDTV(which I'm already using as a monitor), so it's so very tempting...when I've got £649 spare to spend on one.

I could probably get a cheaper PC for that, but I can see an advantage to me owning a Mac, with Windows 7 as a secondary OS with Bootcamp of course.

I would agree if your looking at top of the range computing, but AMD is great value for money if you plan on keeping your hardware for several years

It makes a huge difference. I couldn't read anything on my iPod touch. It would strain my eyes. Now I actually love getting my phone out to read articles and such since it's much smaller, lighter, and mobile than a laptop.

I'm sure they have another 4 generations of iPhones, ready to deply whenever sales take a fall

...not really, but the generations don't have nearly enough differences, it seems companies are always going for the method that makes the most money, making small changes and getting a lot of profit, I just wish they'd move technology onwards for the sake of moving at the rate it did last century
