Hey, it's time for me to burden the forums with my broken computer once more

Near enough all of my games are crashing, the exception that I've used is my beloved RCT and flash games. I think it may be useful to say that until a few days ago, a few extra games like GTA:VC were also working fine.

before that even (and it is still happening on top of the newer problems), My computer screams at me for about an hour every day. Its basically a sine wave (that kind of noise anyway) and it starts randomly after booting and the brighter the screen the louder the noise, so closing a white website onto a dark desktop will make it queiter

The crash itself, the game freezes and randomly coloured pixels cover part of the screen in patterns, sometimes the screen freezes like this, sometimes I can make out a distorted BSOD (Restarts afterwards)

all of that leads me to believe that its my graphics card thats dying, its quite old (8800GT about 3-4 years old) and I want it replacing anyway, I was going to wait until christmas to replace the whole machine, but if replacing the graphics card alone could fix the machine, I can do that

So, do you reckon its my graphics card?

Sounds like a graphics card failure to me. If you was fine with the 8800, I suggest bidding on my 9800 GT on ebay. If not, what is your max budget?

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

Then I suggest this. Only a few squids more than an ordinary GTX 460, totally worth it.

Geforce 8000 series are famous for dying after like 3 years because of a defective core. I had two GF8400gs,both died pretty soon.

I had a GTS 8800 do basically the same thing, had it for around 3 years too. Went with ATI after that for better price and performance.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0Ghz, 2.0GB Single-Channel DDR2 @ 400MHz, ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 5770 Vapor-X

The randomly coloured pixels seems to be a standard symptom of GPU failure.
