Anyone heard of this? if you've played Penumbra then you certainly have. I have waited for this game since it was announced two years back or so.

The demo was released yesterday and I got to say that it looks and feels amazing, much more scary than the Penumbra demos, now I'm just waiting for the release of the full installment on wednesday.

What do you think about the game? success or failure?

I'm a penumbra fan and can't wait for amnesia!

-Why didn't God take gaga, justin bieber or kesha instead of Randy Rhoads, Cliff Burton or Dio?

From watching the trailer, I say its a success. Is it solely a point and click adventure game but in first person?

if it is like in Penumbra there will be a bit of combat...

like, taking a rock *which you do by clicking and dragging a rock* and throw it *quick motion and release*
more exiting than that it wont be since, you are supposed to avoid combat, you are not strong at all, not experienced at all, and you want to survive.

I am definitly getting this!

Just played the demo and its really creepy XD. It keeps you looking over your shoulder in fear of what might be behind you. I jumped into a closet at one point because I thought some thing was coming lol.

I don't know how the combat is handled in Amnesia, I hope it's not like in Penumbra Black Plague were there were no combat at all (no joke). You have to sneak past the enemies, or run.

thats the POINT

if you could jsut kill them all, then the game wouldnt be half as scary and you wouldnt even try to hide from them

There is no combat, other than picking up an object and throwing it. There are no enemies in the demo that come for you, that you can actually see to be able to throw stuff at.

If you don't like sneaking and hiding in games, then this is not for you.

I do like sneaking games, heck I'm a fan of the Thief series, but I think it's stupid to leave out all kinds of combat completely, even a wimpy scientist like Philip should be able to swing a hammer or a wooden plank, he did it in Overture so why not in Black Plague?

And please don't make assumptions about what I like and don't like, thank you.

The important part of that sentence was "If", I didn't say you absolutely hate sneaking etc

The main reason they have left combat out, is so that you feel helpless and therefore making you more scared than if you had a mini gun to mow down the monsters XD

you can, pick it up and do a swinging motion with it

BUT it wont do any good...

the point in this game is to avoid combat, totally

would it be scary if you acually could kill the enemies?

doom 3 stopped being scary after i figured out that none of the demons could withstand my overpowered shotgun nerdrage. penumbra started being scary when i realized i had lost this.

Remember those old guys? They made epic renders, I think one of them was called DaVinci, and all they used was MS Paint. Sometimes it's just skill....

Picked up a copy off Steam last night and have been playing it ever since. Must say, WOW, extremely thrilling. I though FEAR was scary back in the day, but this... WOW! Its really scary until something EXTREMELY scary happens, then after that I kinda felt that the normal scary parts weren't as bad, but thats just me I guess.
Great game. Support the developers as they worked hard and their company is counting on the success of this game!

I didn't find F.E.A.R THAT scary. IT was scary, but not too scary. I think Dead Space or Metro 2033 are one of the scariest games I've played. Silent Hill: Shatteres Memories is a really scary one, but I havn't played it for a while.

And I think ravenholm is still one of THE scariest places ever!

The scariest level ever in any computer game: Shalebridge Cradle from Thief 3.

I haven't bought Amnesia yet since I'm having lots of things going on right now but I hope I will be able to get the game in the near future.

Heh. I just spamed flash bombs throughout that whole level. But yes, when a little dead girl asks you to fetch her her blood, it does give chills.

Amnesia is something different, its sole purpose, is aimed to immerse the player into the game in every sense possible. It truly is, an amazing play.

I don't know. It just is. The zombies and all. Those are actually propably the only zombies I ever found scary (on top of Night of teh Living Dead). The moaning is so horrific... oh and there is a crazy priest. You can't beat that!

But we can all agree, that Silent Hill is scary... well, not all, but many of us.

For real? I've played the first and third (and the fourth somewhat though I've not completed it), and I thought they had a very scary atmosphere, compared with games that came after and copied the "little girl" thing and tried to make the game scary by just making you jump (FEAR, etc.).

I agree that Ravenholm is the freakiest part of a game I've ever played. The sounds and those hugger spiders!
