This ain't FF7-2, home come people keep saying its gonna happen..

This is about a Cinematic movie, or anime movie (thus it is in the Weekly Shonan) or it is a fake. It looks fake to me, and looking at the graphics shown, it could never be playe don anything but a PC or a XBOX.

Oh God no, not kingdom hearts 2, when will the Japanese stop???

Also strange that that mag has alot of "furugana" (snall hiragana above the kanji).

$10 on the movie being worse than tomb rader 2.

Looks fake to me. Unless Japanese advertizing is always that bad.

If it's real, $5,000 on it being worse than Final Fantasy the movie

I find it funny that his so called proof is nothing, next time do a bit of reading, if you can't get someone who can.

I liked the FF movie,personally.

I heard a while back that Square might have been planing a remake of the PS1 FF's, would be pretty cool if this was a cg scene from it.

Get the game, watch the DVD that comes with it, in special features, watch the japanese commercial for it, its 5 minutes long and really weird! I expect the rest of the advertising to be just as weird too.

Does anybody else thing 'Advent Children' is the stupidest name for anything even vaguely game-related since 'Midnight Outlaw: Illegal Street Drag' and 'Divine Divinity'?

Given the quality of the last game, I suppose you can't judge a book by it's title, but mixing that with the reputation of everything Final Fantasy... well, suffice to say that if it meets my expectations, it'll be about as enjoyable as your monitor exploding in your face. And if it meets my hopes, it'll dissapear off the face of the earth .

Another thing-- the movie division of Square shut down after FF's grand floppe in theateres... so how can this be being made?

I just found out why the final fantasy games are going down hill. Final fantasy was sold to Square-enix. Because of this everything is being sold to nintendo also.

"proof"

Shut up Arrow, I said evidence, not proof; there's a distinct difference. Stop putting words in my mouth. God, and you're talking about ME not reading.

Oh yeah and I think it was only the US Squaresoft movie-making division (whatever ya wanna call it) that was shut down; the Japanese didn't even have one at the time...course I could be wrong.

I highly doubt it, Final Fantasy 7 is one of the most complete games out there, they left no lose ends or sequl ties. The most we could ever hope for is a remake.

Finally, someone like me, who can see that FF7 is done, it is over, finished, there is nada left they can do, and they did that intentionally.

FF7 will never have a sequel. A prequel, well square never commented on that, but its still to farfetched.

the trailer shows where the ff7 game finished off, when the mako(sp?) saves the planet. then a message says "7 years later". you see cloud on the motorbike riding down the highway, then there's a battle with sephrioth (very good graphics).

the trailer shows ff7 in full 3d , what more could you ask for

'the trailer shows ff7 in full 3d, what more could you ask for'

A main character with hair that dosen't look like it was done by a lunatic in the 70s? A main character with a weapon that isn't nonsensical and ultimatly useless? A game with a decent combat system-- or game engine? A game with likable characters?

Too much to ask from Square

In case you're wondering why I'm sticking around if I dislike FF so much, it's because I'm curious at whether or not it's real

This IS real, its a movie sequal, but yes it is most definately real... Why else would square-enix sell posters for it at tokyo game show?

I personally think this is the best thing since FFVII itself.

That woudln't be the first and certainly won't be the last time I'm called 'strange', and I'm fine with that, but it's not going to change my opinion .

I only slag it off when I can fit it in posts that contain a message that has more of a point to it .

' you have no clue as to how good it really is'

Yeah right. I've played a third of the game, seen the movies and read the script, so of course I know nothing about it!

The only thing I have no clue about here is why people flip out so much over melodramatic, poorly designed, and generally overrated throwaway 'playayable movies' (with really bad graphics for a movie I might note) just because they've got an anime style to them. It's rather revolting...

By the way, Denki, you're signiture is suddenly really small, what's up with that

Umm, yeah I really doubt that anyone who played a thrid of that game can discribe it as such. I challange you to think up another RPG that was truely better, hell an game that could top old FFVII, even MGS had a hard time competing.

Arena, Daggerfall, Gothic, Gothic II, Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights. Not to mention that FF7 isn't even a RPG-- it's a 'playable' movie.

Mouse, this playable movie you keep bring up is absolute crap. The game had around 30 minutes of CG cut scenes, the gameplay is about 40 hours, that only 4% CG. I don't know about you, but I consider that way more game than movie, esspecially considering todays use of CG cut scenes, (MGS2 anyone?). Quit belly-ache with your silly square-bais attitude, their games have sold way more than any that you meansoned above, hell I'ld bet that FFVII alone beat out every one them by at least a million or two.

I'm not talking about the CG cutscenes.

You have NO choice in what happens. There are a couple barely interactive dialogues which don't effect the end plot at all, and that's the end of it. You just sit there and are forced to fight through some battles and talk to some people to get to the same ending either way, with nothing you can really effect. That is not an RPG and frankly it isn't even a real game.

Oh, then neither is GTA, Mario, Zelda, hell all video games by that logic. You'll never find a game, esspecially an RPG, that isn't linear is one from or another. Your just being an ass now.

'You'll never find a game, esspecially an RPG, that isn't linear is one from or another.'

That is one of the most ridicilous things I've ever heard about games, period

Morrowind is totally nonlinear, and it is the epitome of RPG. You don't have to follow the main quest, there are multiple ways to finish every side quest, and even the main quest branches off and gives you choises.

Daggerfall is the same.

Neverwinter Nights is similar in that good dungeon masters change the world around their players' choices.

Gothic has three main quest branches that greatly effect the whole plot of the game. And it has a nonlinear quest and exploration system.

Gothic II is the same.

I'm afraid you don't know what an RPG is.... Computer RPGs spawned from pen-and-paper RPGs that were around long computer systems. They did not spawn from anime comic books. Do you really think those pen-and-paper games were 100% linear? Any real RPG has some element of nonlinearity, just like a real pen-and-paper game.

I play D&D for about 8 hours a day every week, later today in fact. I've been playing it since I was ten, before console RPGs really hit it big in America. I got all the new 3.5 d20 core rule books and quite a few of the suplements, along with a vast colletion of 2nd edition material, don't talking to me like I'm a child.

Last I checked Final Fantasy VII had a very free battle system which aloud you to completely customize your characters. The only thing you couldn't mix-n-match was the limit brakers. I'ld rather explore my freedom in battle rather then having a choice of what dungeon I want to explore any day.

k... mouse is right about what REAL rpgs are... but I agree with arrow on his character customisation remark... and on how good the game is... Still, FFVII counts as an RPG, because you play though a whole quest as certain characters, and train them and change their stats etc.

Downloading the trailor for this as we speak...

'Still, FFVII counts as an RPG, because you play though a whole quest as certain characters, and train them and change their stats etc.'

I call it an adventure game. While it does have some RPG elements, the utter lack of interactivy (there's no point in training your characters other than getting through the same linear series of events) makes it an adventure in my point of view. If you stuck unit hit points in chess, it'd still be a strategy board game, not much roleplaying there.

But, I suppose it isn't a movie as such. The statistics and branching conversation menus make it a 'game', you've convinced me of that...
