This is a strange question. because honestly i have no idea what would make the internet cooler and internet itself is a pretty abstract thing these days.
does anyone want to share their ideas on what theyd want to change about internet to make it cooler, more badass and awesome?
kinda abstract questionthat got me thinking about what would the internet be like if it developed differently or something.

Well it's not changing the internet directly, but if IE didn't exist i'm sure websites would be better. I'm talking CSS wise.

In my experience creating websites, i have always had trouble with IE when creating styles and has prevented me from creating a few cool effects. And after searching i have found that most other people do too. That is why if IE didn't need to be supported, a lot of websites could of used there cool effects. It's not that i hate IE or anything, it is just that it annoys me.

I would want the internet to remember what you like. So when you get on it's like a you start out automatically at your e-mail, then when you finish you open a new tab and it automatically goes to the TGC website, and for me, it would open youtube in the background and play some weird al for when i post.

You could just write your own browser.

Another thing i would change is that no one uploads viruses and other malicious files on the web.

Oh and render pages in DirectX or OpenGL so we can have 3d pages. That would look interesting.

I love that suggestion.

That would be snazzy, but load times would be huge.

Internet ain't interesting enough for you? Well, I want a helmet that simulates me inside the net. We could have every kinda confessions that way. And wouldn't annoying ragers be more fun that way? They want to punch you, you take the helmet off quickly and BAM! they just got owned.

I don't see why it would have load huge load times, It would just use markup code which a 3d engine parses and displays. I guess it would have the big load times if they used custom 3d models instead of primitives.

3D compatibility.
If you have a 3D LCD screen that can be seen without glasses (which a lot of people hopefully will in the future), display the site in 3D. That'd be awesome! (But yeah... Popups?)

GPU accelerated browsers with openGL (more platforms have acess to it) would be a cool Idea, You'd be able to extend the possibility of websites, the main problem is we'd have to wait a few years before we transfer anything interesting in realtime

Could start a wave of free (proper) games over the internet

You cant change the internet, its no such thing as "the" internet. Only internet.

Unless you mean this:

I'd remove all the modded servers and make it illegal to release/play an unlit or dev textured map in Source.

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

I would remove any of the people that see fit to ruin the internet for everyone. For example hackers, virus creators or just general idiots. This would make the web a much nicer and safer place to be and the way it was intended in the first place.

I've read that Google are interested in developing something like this, it would do things like monitor your blood pressure and if it's high it would find some calming music that you like and play it to you. Just don't think about sex or it will start calling premium rate phone lines
