Well my dad might sell my quad and he figures I can get 1500 Canadian for it, and I want a new, faster laptop, any ideas between about $800-$1800 Canadian?
I mainly need it for programming, and I would like to maybe be able to play some games on it (Call of duty, bad company, etc) so what I'm looking for is a computer with:
I shouldn't need more than 150GB memory (Programming stuff, might have 3 games on there, each won't be more than 4GB probally, won't exceed 50GB probally, but just incase.
Fast (obviously)
Can run games medium-fast (I don't need to be able to run at 500+ FPS when I only need around 60 for gaming)

Also I am going to need to get an Anti Virus for my laptop if I get it, so what do you guys recommend?

you mean the HarDDrive(HDD) not memory, or i hope you dont.
If 150gb is now the standard memory amount i really have to update (memory is ram, video memory is your graphics cards ram).

and i must say, why a laptop?
unless your making big trips id really advise a computer instead.

And you are asking for much, i agree with what i think OBese87 is trying to say...
A laptop, with what your saying, and i bet you want it to last, i doubt one exists. (that or he misspelt troll for trick).

I also can assure you, you will go over 50GB if you want to play the games you mentioned...

Smoke me a kipper, ill be back for breakfast.

get the MSI GX or whatever, its the new one with the hd5870 mobile, i hear its good and cheap, (mostly because it has a crappy core i5) but you can upgrade to core i7 i hear, so the laptop is worth it just for the 5870

dont hate people who rip you off, cheat and get away with it, learn from them

If you're not planning on moving the machine around a desktop is a much better idea. Cheaper, upgradeable, easier to open up and clean when dust builds up...

I guess I don't, I might get my moms desktop, it has:
Windows Vista
AMD Phenom(tm) 8450 Triple-core processor 2.10 GHz
4.00GB RAM
32-bit operating system

sound:
NVIDIA high def audio
Realtek High def audio

Display adaptors:
Nvidia GeForce 9200

Is there anything I can upgrade to make a noticable difference? ($800 max)
Also if I did get it and completely reset the computer would it still have everything I listed above?

EDIT: Im thinking of getting these with the desktop if I get it:
PNY XLR8 GeForce 9800 GT EE 1GB DDR3 PCI-E Video Card
AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz Quad Core CPU
Windows 7 Home/Ultimate
VIPRE anti virus + anti spy ware
About $600-$800 canadian.
Are those better than what I have on the desktop right now?
if I get the desktop, do you think they could run modern games on high? and would they overheat my desktop easy?

Upgrade the OS

But yeah, Windows 7.
I don't see why you need the processor upgrade, but I imagine someone here will disagree with me.
I know nothing about graphics cards.
Use avast!, it's free xD
