Believe it or not, I actually haven't played very many SNES games, nor have I owned one. But I just bought a SNES today, any idea of games I should get? So far I have SM All Stars, SMW, and Killer Instinct.

Ok, I'll add that one to the list. Someone also recommended the Square RPGs like Final Fantasy 4, etc.

I was looking up pre-owned SNES consoles and the best games yesterday, having never owned one. I'm in pretty much the same boat as you was.

My fairly short games list:
Quote: "Super Mario World
Super Mario All Stars
Super Mario Kart
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Zelda: A Link to the Past
Street Fighter II
Yoshi's Island"

EDIT: A quick look on what's been released on the Virtual Console. Don't forget:
Quote: "F-Zero
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Super Metroid
Super Castlevania IV
Star Fox
Kirby's Dream Land 3"

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

Ok, I'll see if I can get my hands on some of these... I also found some games on ebay: http://video-games.shop.ebay.com/Games-/139973/i.html?Platform=Nintendo%252C%2520Super&rt=nc&LH_BIN=1&_dmpt=Video_Games_Games&_trksid=p3286.c0.m301

I'm willing to pay a bit more than your average game cart, as I've pretty much insisted that every game in my recent N64 spree has a box. Manual is a bonus, as is the box being in good condition.

I just love those cardboard boxes you'd get with retro games.

Well duh. It's so you don't mistake it with the boring, obviously inferior NES games.

Mark the Donkey Kong Country 2 as a must get. It's really worth it.

Obviously as a FF dork:

Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VI

You can ignore mystic quest. There's non-SNES versions, FFIV has a 3D version on the DS and the playstation version of VI has extras, but come on, SNES versions are where it's at.

Also:
Star Ocean
Sword of Mana
Tales of Phantasia (Same game series as Tales of Vesperia)

And lets not forget, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (as already mentioned). I played it around a friend's, I'm sure you'll be in for a treat. I gave up on the first level and I don't think my friend has ever completed it. Next time I'm round there, I'm gonna freaking beat it.

And wasn't Final Fantasy 1-3 re-released for SNES? If so I'll have to get those too.

If you like Football (American Soccer) get International Superstar Soccer, it was amazing! Starfox as well.

Mystic Quest was sweet!

But check out the Lufia series and Chrono Trigger!

I was just gonna suggest Chronotrigger. If you like football, you should get Sensible Soccer too, I always liked the SNES version best, it's the most playable version.

If you can get it, Mystical Ninja is brilliant, I've only played it on emulators, but it's one of the best SNES games out there.

Mario Kart is a vital SNES game too.

I've been a huge fan of Mario Kart, so that would be good for my collection.
