Cheep Chinese Ipad ripoff?, if they hhad better processors and capacitive touch they wouldn't be that bad. You could also get one of those Eee netbook which convert to a tablet and install andoid x86

Well the iPad is already a rip off of the iPod Touch...

Quote: ". It ships with Android 2.2 (Froyo), the complete Google apps Market, Flash 10.1, 16GB or 32GB of memory, GPS, and integrated sensors, such as a gyroscope, accelerometer, light sensor, and geomagnetic sensor.
Samsung Galaxy Tab (photos)

The whole thing runs on an ARM Cortex A8 1GHz applications processor, tied to a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processor. If you're feeling photogenic, a 3.2 megapixel camera on the back includes auto-focus and an LED flash and records video up to 720x480. A video chat-compatible camera on the front of the Tab uses a 1.3 megapixel VGA resolution to beam your pretty mug to your friends and family.
Battery life is rated at an impressive 7 hours of continuous video playback.
As far as connectivity goes, the Tab promises Wi-Fi compatibility up to 802.11n, as well as cellular 2.5G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) and 3G (HSUPA 5.76Mbps, HSDPA 7.2Mbps). Specific carrier agreements have not been announced.

It has a higher-resolution screen than the iPad, flash support, 2 cameras, and the full Android marketplace...hmmm.

I don't have any experience with them, but the ARCHOS tablets look awesome, and they're very reasonably priced.

Not trying to start a shameless plug, but I think you'd find the 18K+ members on my forum quite helpful in answering that question - SlateDroid.

My personal advice to you would be to stick around until nearer Christmas because there most probably will be an explosion of Android-based tablets coming out then. But I'd definitely keep your eye on one of the new Archos tablets - the 10" one seems like a great deal. One important thing to consider is what warranty you'll get. Stay clear of the cheapest Chinese tablets - the workmanship is crap, I've got quite a few samples straight from the factories at home and they are literally held together by masking tape (and that's not my repairs, that's how they were assembled D: ).

If you want any more help then mail me

I have to say, the most annoying thing is when someone calls something a rip-off of an iPad - TABLET PCS HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR AGES! But that said, it's obvious which ones *are* the rip-offs.

While I'm here, Ive just acquired a 12" monster called a JooJoo. It got crap press because of the stupid proprietary OS they put on it which is totally restricting. But the bare hardware specs alone make it so much better than an iPad. 12" capacitive multitouch screen, 1GB DDR3 RAM (expandable), 1.66GHz Intel Atom proc, nVidia ION (up yours Apple xD ). I'm working on getting Windows 7 on this thing, it should be capable of some casual gaming. But of course ti would be just as easy to stick Android on it as Intel is developing a native port. It's a fair amount cheaper than an iPad too.

I'd stay clear of the Samsung though, for the specs it offers it's not worth it.
