Hey guys a friend of mine and i have a great idea. We were wondering if it was possible to go inside a house and record video, Then somehow convert that video into a 3d enviroment so poeple can walk around in it. Sort of like google earth has the street view. This way people who want to buy a house could walk around in the house while sitting on their computer. Does anyone have a general idea on how this could be done. The basic concept is talking a normal video and converting it into a 3d world/ enviroment. Thanks.

the only real way I could think to do this is with a panoramic camera and a textured sphere, which has already been done by several companies.

Hey
@Quick: See we dont want to have to model every house.
So basically the reason i asked his question is,
My idea is i make these videos for all the high end houses on sale at my house. Then somehow make 3d walk in enviroment, so people can tour the houses from their houses.
So any other ideas. Thanks for the replies so far.

Thats what PlanetaryFunk said. Though i don't see how your going to be able to do stairs in a sphere. If you serious about this i suggest making it run in a web browser as well.

sorry... gonna have to if you want a completely 3D enviroment that is, sorry but it just isnt possible unless you want to just see a house from one view then its not possible, so if you dont already
know how to model, then i would suggest learning how.

It's definitely possible - its the kind of thing big companies are investing heavily in and a lot of people are working on. I'm sure there's lots of complicated algorithms and math involved behind it all - like facial recognition or something.

You'd definitely want to try to find a workaround.
