Well..Quite a bit wrong with it really.

Too much black background.
The text needs improving, especially the letter 'T'
The objects seem to have no meaning.
The blade doesn't look shiny.
The blade handle has flat lighting.
The flowers are mangled.

How to improve it?

Use a different art package by the looks of it.

Can't afford one?

Render it with a free modelling package, or find a better free art package. Or add a 2D artist to your team. Those flowers are probably easy to get on the net anyway. Fonts are also easy to get.

Pincho.

Try a slight blur on the image, the edges of the elements look too jagged.

Everyobdy wants to be loved,But no one loves everybody...

HEY!!! I'm the one who had 'Cyberspace' in his location on the older black forums, shame on you Rich j/k

Yikes - I did this guys in Paintshop Pro which I bought 3 days ago Lol a learning process (Forgot to add that to the first post - WHOOPS!)

Too much black background.

Its for a sprite

The text needs improving, especially the letter 'T'

Ya the letter T is a big disconfigured, I saw that too. But I tried fancier text but the co leader said text should be simple, black with yellow outline.

The objects seem to have no meaning.

I disagree.

The blade doesn't look shiny.

Beyone my skill as of now, but Ill try

The blade handle has flat lighting.

Ya I tried to do that, again, beyond my skill now.

The flowers are mangled.

My lazy ass not touching them up

Act: Thanks - Ill try that see how it looks

Ermes: Not just gonna nick something. Cant afford photoshop.

Ive tried to get a 2D artist, I really have. Ive posted all over the internet looking, no one wants to help. I purchased Paintshop Pro because I said "Screw it! If no one wants to help then Ill just have to do it all myself!" So thats the situation Im in

I'd love to help you bro...
I have got Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and Adobe Photoshop Elements.
I prefer Adobe Photoshop Elements... Its easier to use and I seem to have more options.

I am not a good artist but if you send me your art I would definately touch it up for you. Elements has got a lot of good text style that would be perfect for your project.

Let me know and I will see what I can do.

Forgot to ask....
Did you do all that on paper and scan it? Did you draw it in a paint program with the mouse? Or do you own the tool that hooks to the computer that lets you draw with a special pen?

Let me know cause if you drew that with the mouse... Wow that is good.

i use paint shop pro RPG gamer and I found this useful tutorial for making a shiny metal ball and I think u could use same method to put some life in your sword.
This is (roughly the process)

make a layer with your sword then color it, then effects-3d-outer bevel.
select the sword with the wand thing and save selection to alpha channel.
now make another layer and load the sword selection from alpha thingy and fill with a photo of a very detailed object. In the tutorial he used a picture of a wrist-watch - he said architecture photos were good too.
now add a ripple effect to photo layer.
now put the sword layer above the ripple photo layer and adjust the opacity until you get best effect.
now merge the layers and goto effects-illumination-sunburst and mess about 'til u get it right.

I read this tutorial a while ago but can't find. If I find it i'll post u a link here.

Er... isn't it a bit... small... for title art? This is a day and age where most gamers run things at 1024x768 minimum, and even menus can't get away with much lower than 800x600 or the pixelation really shows up.

I'd be more than interested in working as an artist for your project. Send me an E_mail with a description of the game and some of your ideas and needs.

I have four years photoshop experience with one year 3d modeling experience and would love the extra work.

Sorry I didn't see your request before. I'm new to the forum but not new to art. If you'd like I could even put up a geocities website with some of my work if your worried about my being qualified.

I've got DB Classic and PS Skillz and I'm not afraid to use um!

Well PSP isn't so bad... I thought it was MSPaint LOL!
It needs layers of light mainly. You can add a line of white to the handle, smudge it, then make the layer transparent. Still, sounds like you have an artist now. I'm sure that this will end up being a great game.

I'll see if I can create a better line art from that scan, hell I might just do the whole thing if D&D falls through again.
