...IrfanView is a free imaging program that will easily open .dds files, and allow you to save them as any file type you wish.

I bet there are sveral. I mainly use the Nvidia dds-plugin for photoshop instead. That way I dont need lots of different filestypes taking up space

i downloaded irfanview with the latest pluggins but it wont let me open the dds files for the stock sci-fi weapons.

I use gimp to convert images (And other stuff of course). If you get the DDS plugin for it you can easliy convert files.

Windows 7, Amd Athlon 7750 Black Editon (64 bit,3ghz + Dual Core), ATI Readon HD 4870 1gb Edition, 4gb Ram.

As i needed this software to use for the sole purpose of fpsc i did post it on fpsc chat but not only for myself but for others to know about it and use it for their fpsc too,but now it has been moved here?

I dont think IrfanView can open .DDS files, at least my version cant open them. There may be a plugin or something which lets you do it however.

If you find dds plugin for IrfanView then please tell me, that would be most appreciated.

I know there's apps that already do this but I decided to make an app anyway

I've made a small application that converts '.dds' files to '.png', '.jpg' and '.bmp' files.
It can convert entire folders of files one after the other as well.
