When you overlay 3D objects into a video? Like I would say transformers would be a good example.

Ever heard the term "CGI"?

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

That's the term for the 3D itself.

Also why did you say it so rude dude? I'm not trying to start a flame war, but when you post you sure do say things kindia mean.

I'm talking about the specific term for video special effects such as this:

or this

The term CGI is generally used for special effects like this. It's a bit of a catch-all phrase really.

What would be the effect name in 3DS Max for a tutorial?

Example: How to do model overlaying in 3DS Max

I know that's wrong^

Edit: NVM I got it all worked out

It's all just compositing, so that may be the technical term. They render out the 3D video footage which contains alpha channels (which allows them to put backgrounds "behind" the object without it actually being there), and then they use compositing tools such as garbage mattes (which is usually a hand-drawn shape that literally "cuts out" parts of footage you don't want (wire, boom mics, hence the term "garbage matte"), which helps make it look like objects are actually "in" the movie "behind" something. It's a tricky process.

Thanks for the help and Aaagreen I'm guessing after 5 slaps and 3 bans so far you might wanna watch yourself . It was just a question and I know you were trying to help, but try not to act so serious

Your going from this:

To this:
