I reformatted my drive on the weekend and installed windows 7 again, but I'm having a problem with the updates it downloaded. When it installs them and shutsdown and I boot back up, it will fail to configure the updates and reverts, this takes about 3-5 minutes before I can get to the desktop. The message I get is basically "Failure to configure updates, reverting changes" Anyone here have this problem before?

Maybe;

I would also consider getting all the hardware drivers up to date first, like graphics card, sound, etc as that may cause a problem.

Also do not install all the win7 updates at once. Try doing a few at a time.

I've never had a problem with Win7 whatsoever so can't help other than suggest googling that error message and trawling through all the people that had similar problems.

Boo!

I gave installing the updates while I was still logged on a go, seems to have fixed the problem. Must not have been installing on shutdown.

Most of the google results I got where about systems getting stuck in a loop and not being able to log on to windows, which I was able to as it never restarted.
