Really thats the only way i can think of describing this topic. if it weren't for standards i would add the words little (and a synonym for a female dog) to the end of that question.

I guess its something that really becomes apparent when you are living in a rural area. things now are not what they were 100, or even 50 years ago. Urbanization of our earth has rapidly increased and will most likely continue. In urban areas people are a lot closer together than what they would be in a small town and because of that certain activities become a little less acceptable. For example you can't go hunting for deer in downtown Kamloops. Theres less room to go dirt biking, hunting, hiking, fishing, or many other outdoor activities that have been done for thousands of years, activities that I as well as others enjoy. People living in urban areas may instead find other things to spend their time on. This does not bother me one bit, do whatever you want.

The part that DOES bother me VERY much is when people in the media and government whom live in urban areas begin to question weather rural people should partake in dirt biking, quadding, camping, etc. For example, imagine a farmer who makes a living raising cattle and growing crops. surely you can understand that to do so he needs to run possibly noisy equipment. surely you understand that the cows and fertilizer may make a little smell when it is first used and will go away when settled. I guess not.

I'll be more brief with this as its more pollitics. ATVing in BC, It's being blamed for the environmental damage to our forests. Recreational activities that require a little fuel and a few old trails created by the logging? I mean really! can people not notice that the mining, drilling, pine beetle problem (in BC), and logging are literally leveling the forests 9001X faster than any group of quad riders can? But oh no, according to the news they're fine. its those darn quad riders rolling around on their old roads thats the problem.

Banning guns by coming after legit hunters and farmers, banning ATV's, Complaining about the people working hard to produce YOUR dinner? I think thats disheartening to say the least.

I agree. People get upset over little things. People can't admit that they're wrong (Myself/yourself/ourselves included), and are wrong, bigoted, biased, and ignorant often. With crap like that, you barely can win.

A big thing I'm seeing lately is that ppl don't know how to be mean to each other... and when people try not to seem insulting when they mean to be, that causes drama for teens, and lack of discipline for kids.

I think a big thing is that people are so hellbent on individuality they don't see the problem as a whole. So when people see a trail torn up with tire marks, they don't realize that represents a small part of a massive area.

Actually, a good example of this happened to me when I was 13. I e-mailed a friend (who was a girl) with a "guess who" e-mail, they asked who it was, and I replied back "no, guess". Their parents called the police thinking I was somehow a stalker who tracked down their daughters e-mail address.

some PPL need ta calm tha hell down.

my old girlfriend (who is above 18 btw)
used to, when someone calls her and she doesnt know the number, she wont answer and checks it up on the internet

why would someone do that?! isnt it just better to answer and ask who it is? are people these days really this paranoid?

and a lot of people i know ususally dont answer if someone calls with "hidden number"... why? WHY? what can happen?

There are gun laws in the UK and you still can go hunting, so it'd be stupid of them to go after legit hunters and farmers - I live rurally and my next door neighbours owns a few hunting rifles, he used to hunt rabbit. The farmer uses a rifle to shoot pheasant, if he didn't, then you wouldn't be able to buy pheasant.

As for quad-biking vs the environment, yes, that's pretty ridonculous. No doubt the same people who are complaining about deforestation have wood furniture or something that has required trees to be cut down. Reminds me of the member of PETA wearing leather shoes, I agree animals should be treated fairly, but you're not going to stand there and tell people they're wrong for wearing animal skin when you've got cow-hide attached to your feet.

Anyway I argue - plant a few trees for every one you cut down, but stuff like quad-biking, it really is small fry.

THIS is something I don't like. It's not actually all that difficult. We're only human we can be wrong about things, our judgment isn't perfect.

This is bizarre. I usually speak first and if they don't introduce themselves I'll ask who they are. If they start sounding like the villain from the Scream movies then hang up and call the police. On which note...if America is so big on owning guns to protect themselves, why don't people in horror movies like Scream ever think, "I need my gun"? Especially when the first victim has been claimed and you know you're a potential victim. Scream could have easily ended after the first scene and then I wouldn't have had to waste another hour or so watching it.

Nothing can happen... But I must admit, I have a slight phone-answering-phobia, and I don't know how to get rid of it...

Me too. When friends tell me they have this strange number that called them and they don't know who it is because they didn't answer it. I'll use my cell to call the strange number and talk to or leave a message telling them "You called my friends cell and he/she wants to know who you are.". Usually my paranoid friends do actually know them.

I don't answer the phone much any more. Too many surveys and people trying to sell me something. I really only answer when it's work or family.

The problem is that these days every is supposed to have an equal opinion, it doesn't matter if you've studied a subject for decades or you've just seen a twenty second clip about the subject, you have the "right" to have your opinion heard.

It makes me cringe when BBC newsreaders read out the comments of "concerned viewers" who know nothing about anything. I get annoyed with that behaviour on youtube but on BBC News?

The irony is that this trend is all a big ploy by marketers and the government. The idea is that by being allowed to voice your opinion you feel important and respected and you are less likely to cause civil unrest and you are more likely to buy things.

The Microsoft adverts are a good example of utter bovine-secretion, "Windows 7 was my idea". You're supposed to believe that you had some hand in developing the OS, that they have built the OS around "your" needs.

This isn't new of course, I remember when I was five or six looking at the back of a pack of cornflakes and wondering why it said "Made for you" - or words to that effect.

The internet has opened up a million new ways to fool people into thinking they matter. Kellogs doesn't love you, YouTube doesn't love you. And if you don't know what you're talking about you should do some reading before writing.

Well, with everything that happens nowadays and all the sick people that exist, it's no wonder why her parents reacted that way. To you it might sound strange because you knew that girl, but her parents just wanted to protect her. The internet is a place for sick people to lurk. If her parents wouldn't have reacted that way, then I'd say that they're not good parents. What if it wasn't you that emailed her, but some sick guy?

Cheers

Yeah, calling the police is over the top, I admit. Guess I misread that part, sorry. I was kinda busy while reading it.

If I don't want to hear someone's whining, I will just ignore, if that someone is whining just to see me get pissed off. But there is this one girl at our class that is whining about EVERYTHING and sometimes people (including me... well, mostly me and this other guy with too much time and energy) get her pissed off and it's just a laugh fest after that... altho I told her a couple of times, that it wouldn't be fun to do that if she didn't get so goddarn angry about it.

Umm, considering stores can't sell wild game, my dinner doesn't come from hunters, just farmers. Why would a farmer need a gun? I have nothing against banning all guns. It does sound like you live in a more rural area than I and maybe that's why you think guns are ok. I guess banning guns would do very little as the ones causing the problems probably don't have gun licenses anyway. So maybe just stop making guns?

Ok... is there any reason to keep this unlocked? It's turning into a gun control debate, with people talking about bombs.
