Ok, well I have been codeing in Java and the code that I was making kept on not working. Turned out that I was missing a bracket and a semi-colon. When I finially got it right, I yelled "Take THAT compiler, I have defeated you. Muahahaha." (Yes, It was literally an evil laugh.)

My friend, who was on the phone with me at the time laughed at me for that. I think that it is kind of reasonable because, as you all already know, programming can make you real mad real fast.

My question is, is that bad that I yelled at my compiler? and Do any of you ever yell at your computer when programming?

In Soviet Russia, they don't make stupid jokes about Soviet Russia.

I yell at my computer frequently. A lot of times in my head...but as soon as programming enters the equation...I'm usually at least complaining audibly at the computer.

I yell at my computer all the time, whatever it does. If the monitor stops working, if XFire needs updating, if somebody annoys me on MSN, if this vertex isn't in exactly the right position, if a cord is getting tangled around my wrist, if my mouse batteries are low, if it doesn't boot properly, if the keyboard stops working, if I die in CoD, just about anything.

I last yelled at the compiler last night, fixed one bug, and it caused a huge error to occur somewhere else in the code, my mother would have been ashamed if she heard the things i said...

I tried to play Batman: Arkham Asylum with the xbox 360 controller, as it was great with Metro 2033, and I noticed that the controls sucked with it. They weren't ment for me. So I thought that i'd go to change the controls around, but you can't change them. Only on the keyboard... so for me, the possibily to play with the 360 controller is useless. I yelled at my computer, and I yelled at teh company, hoping they'd hear me and I felt like ripping apart the controller till I remembered it was my friend's. Rocksteady, I love what you've done with batman, all the stuff with the keyboard is great, but please, PLEASE let us change the controls on the sequel... if that's possible.

It's a way of keeping us focused under extreme stress conditions. So I say it's normal.

I tend not to when compiling, I've not had any that have been frustratingly long. Renders on the other hard, well, I've come close, especially when I used my old computer, it really didn't have the power to render much at all.

Well...
...I wouldn't go that far. You're a programmer after all.

Yes. I've yelled at the computer before.

And I once gave it a death threat. When that didn't solve the problem, I installed Ubuntu.

But then I installed Windows again. And now I'm about to take up programming again, so I'm sure I'll yell some more.

I think it's perfectly fine to yell at a code compiler, and flip it off. : )

Hehe. I should have said game programming.

I'm going to install Ubuntu 10.10 soon, and probably use that for C++ programming and general internet purposes. Definitely sticking with Windows for video editing though.
