Well ill kick this into gear then.
Ive been after an upgrade from my old samsung G-600 and so got my hands on a Samsung wave for £200. Now as great a deal as that is, the phone is woeful. Im not pertically hard to impress so when i seen this flashy stylish phone i jumped at the chance to get it. Now i regret it comletely. Ive had it less than a week and its froze, crashed, error messaged, power drained and physically burnt me. The screen is wonderful, everything i wanted. The software, well i was better off on the G600 since ive never had the pleasure of raging over trying to answer a call with it. (you have to have pinpoint accuracy and press in exactly the middle of the answer call button and then hold it in for a few seconds) Move, and you gota do it again by which time the phone is blaring and you cant stop it.
Now other than the flimsy Os, the applications well, they just arent, what they call a huge market is actually more like >200 where you 'might' see yourself using one day is the distant future for a two second satisfaction. There buggy with the memory, music and multitasking it poorly done and it just generally fails where they shouldnt. Especially in the basics like texting and calling people.
Other than that is generally appeasing phone, The on screen keyboard is very easy to use other than a key swap and options button being unbearable close to send. So half baked texts are a usual. The phone is sleek and packs a bit of power even if th eapps have poor memory usage. So boiling it all down to what it is, a fancy screen pieced together by a DIY Os which is lacking in more ways than advantages, im not going to be paying £200 for something that fragile and will most likly break the second its out of warrenty. In my case 2 weeks (ebay power seller) So im sending it back for a refund.
Now that was me venting a little over a very grand dissapointment. After all ive just started uni and a phone is essentially your bling. Hence me upgrading after about 4-5 years.
So why on earth did i make this thread?
I need to make a informed decision on what phone to buy. My budget is £400 at the very, very high end and most unlikly to buy, but on the off chance i can stretch my money.
So what ive been looking at so far?
The samsung galaxy S was a lovely piece of hardware but again the software kills off the excitment, That and a price tag over my top end budget. Ive noticed the Htc phones are pretty dam sweet with the android OS to match all expectations.
Theres the new
HTC 7 - trophy with windows OS, ive heard a few good things from it too.
Also the the
Aria
Android and looks entirely the part.
And other than that ive have no idea of what im stepping into. Ive been searching all night and once i realised my practically computer illiterate dad was trying to sway my decissions i came to you guys to for some help.
So can anyone suggest any phones or views?
Ill be enternally gratful since ive been out this market for so very long i dont know what i searching for.
