I'm actually not sure if I want it or not. To me the graphics look the same as FO3, and the gameplay seems the same. But the weapons and enemies... oh darn their luring beautifulness....

Redoing my entire website... again. EDIT: Finished it! Whew.

The setting seems more interesting than the one in Fallout 3. To me, the graphics don't matter (there will be mods that improve the graphics), and there was nothing wrong with the gameplay in Fallout 3 (so I don't care if the gameplay is the same).

I'll let the mods brew for about a year before I play it. Mods make any game better.

graphics is just slightly different, I think they wanted the same kind of graphics tbh, and therefore they could fully focus on gameplay and story. Got this today and iam definitly trying it out when i come home!

I havent gotten far in it, i just got done with

Spoiler:

And it was pretty cool, i only have one weapon mod and its a silencer for my varminter and its done pretty well since it keeps the same damage and its common, and it takes out enemies in one headshot if your in sneak mode.

The only thing ive been disappointed in is the texture for the .357 magnum, its all white and doesnt look like metal really. But i plan to change that with the mod tools

Ok if anyone has a link to new vegas .BSA unpacking it would be useful, ive tried previous BSA unpackers and it hasnt worked for me, it throws errors when reading the New Vegas files. The new G.E.C.K works for me and i can see the model in there, but i cant access it and edit it and repack it.

And i have now just realized the texture resolution is way lower then it should have been. I have it set on high at 1600x900 and its really blurry.

ok i think the BIGGY tip that is the most important,,, more important then a good gun, is good armor.

Look for armor with a high DT (damage threshold). 5 would be the minimum i would go for, 10-15 would be good number.

If you find a good piece of armor, be sure to keep it intact by going to repairmen, (i dont think you can repair by yourself?)

I got this on Saturday, love it! - I'd even go as far to say I prefer it to Fallout3. Cooks my PC alive though, serious overheating problems with thus one, maybe time to look for some better cooling hardware.

Its not that your pc cant handle the graphics.

Your pc just cant handle the awesomeness of everything combined so it gets mad and , well, i know when i get mad, if im wearin a jacket, oooohhhh booyyyy, it is comin off.

to be honest, they have got to put too much polies on the chars

because everything runs fine

until there are more than 2 chars on screen at the same time.

If an Xbox 360 can handle it, there aren't too many polies.

my optimized settings are high for New Vegas on my HD4650. Does that mean i should run it on high? absolutely not.

Although Obsidian definitely did a poor job on optimization.

why would you say that?

I understand completely what resolution is.

And i think you know what i meant.

What i meant was, i would MUCH prefer lowering shadows/distance/particles before i lower my resolution.

I got that Boone sniper dude to accompany me, damn useful. The most epic weapon I've found tho is the boxing gloves - if you see them, nab them...

hehe i couldnt help myself.

Im starting to mod it with the GECK and other tools
(if you need help ask me on msn: [email protected])

The only problem i have so far, and there isnt any documentation, is this : I have made a custom variant of the varminter, and i have changed the texture and the values, the thing i dont get how to change is this, Make it spawn with certain Weapon Mod Kits Already applied.

The part i circled in red i am unsure of what changing this value does.

Depends on the LOD settings. I know they use different LOD on the terrain - I think XBox and PS3 have it on the lowest in FO3 and on the PC you can have a much smoother terrain - XBox 360 and PS3 games tend to have around 'Medium' settings compared to their PC equivalent, though obviously depending on how intensive the games are.

However, with handling performance, comes down to optimisation and FO3 wasn't very well optimised when I played it (even lagged and over heated on lowest settings), but things could well be different for New Vegas.

@Quik: I had the same problem. On the 360 version it suffers alot if played for too long, at one point it lagged big time, I was in Camp Macarran, and bam! Frozen. It is a good game, but I've had to restart about 5 times now due to freezing. Also it does take sweet time to load sometimes.

Also...

Does anyone know how to set the weapons scope to the default scope you would get from a mod?
I cant seem to find any parameters for it.

Maybe i have to write a script :S

[edit]
ok im blind.

there was a little check box next to it that says: Comes from mod.

Just had to uncheck it :S

Lol, you won't get a huge slowdown because of polies. It's because of the extra processing that the AI uses.

Just because FPSC struggles to render polies doesn't mean every other game engine does Quik.

stupid navmeshes

im in the process of unwrapping my service rifle red dot sight mod.
(the hard part was fixing the new faces i made from deleting the iron sights, not the rds lolwtf?)
Im also going to do a retexture at a higher resolution (they are using 256x256 wtf?!)

Here is the clay render (this is not my model, i have only deleted irons and made a sight):

Then i have to go through the iron sights method and just change FOV.
