Train2Game just doesn't seem right to me. What do you think? Sorry if this has been brought up before, I did do a search.

Inclined to agree with the above.

EDIT: Whoops, did not notice how old this was.

I've mentioned in more depth before in a thread on the same subject.

Whilst the course is legit, The chances of you getting a job from it are slim, Its not the kind of thing the industry looks for.

This applies to most learn-at-home courses, although there are a few exceptions, such as Open University

I did a similar course a few years ago in web-design, I ended up dropping out because it was useless and purposely designed to slow me down as much as possible.

Personally I think that its a waste of time and money.

The reason way are a few things.

1. The diploma not a real one in that it has little to no worth.
Their own words "the diplomas worth anything ... unfortunately only time will tell." Basically that diploma is one of those swimming certificates you did as a child. Only it didn't cost you as much.

So the course is not worth the paper its printed on. Better to use the open university and get something that's worth its salt.

2. Costs its a subjective thing but if it is going to cost a few thousand I'd better be getting a top rated course and up to date teaching. The graphics on the advert look on par for star trek the original tv show and that's old.

3. All the info can be found on the internet like how to program and how to do art ect. You paying some else a few thousand to find and print off a web page. Hell give me a few thousand I'll find some info for you.

Better to choose a open university course or better learn for free then do a start up company. After all the industry is hard to get in to so a start up maybe a good start point.

I'll add something later on.

Don't most games companies still look down on university games degrees? I don't think they would put much weight in an web based diploma.

That said it depends what you want out of it I guess, though even then I would say there are better options. I wouldn't go in to it expecting a job in the industry at the end, and if you just want to do it for yourself (maybe become an indie dev afterwards) I would recommend just buying some books from Amazon and teach yourself - probably works out cheaper that way .

Yes! Although I've seen the odd art schooler get hired at game companies, they almost always require a degree from a real University.
