Alright, im sick and tired of my HD4650, its been good to me with low settings and low resolution, but its time for an upgrade, with not that much cash to blow.

I have $160 to spend on a gfx card and im looking into this one

Sapphire Radeon HD 5770

Any other suggestions?

thats a bit out of my price range. 160 for me is pushing it because that is literally all i have at the moment.

maybe you should save up because for 160 there is anything much better than what you have. i guess 5770 is better but just by a small margin. i get the feeling htat you wont be much happier with it than with your 4650. but if you save up for something pretty good like a gtx 465 or a 5850 you would be sooo happy

Right now for 160€,you can get the epic new Radeon 6850 or GTX460 768mb version. Pick between these two, other models are right now crap.

i had a terrible morning but when i found out that the 6870 is slightly better than my 5870 but for only half the price, that made me cry. fortunatley later when i looked at some info on the web, i found out that the 6870 perfoms slightly worse than the 5870 but for that price thats REALLY AWESOME. it turns out that if 5870 was more high end the 6870 is more of a middle range. they are planning to make the 6970 and the 6990 to be the top noch cutting edge cards. I am kind of exited. the 6870 being more affordable you can actually run 2 of them in crosswire and it would be a very powerful combination

I'm probably gunna save up for an NVidia. What good cards are there at a reasonable rate? (£100-140)

I found alot of cards but I didn't know what were good, and let's be honest, the best place to ask about that is here. Needs to be NVidia, ATI just has too many minor grievances with UDK for my liking.

And I know that's Epic's fault more than ATI's...

In that price range their is either the gtx 460 768mb version of the gts 450. If you can push it slightly then i suggest getting a gtx 460 1gb version as their price has just dropped due to the new amd 6000 card being released

Whoa, hold on a second bud, my card can run call of duty on low effects on 1024x768 and get maybe 40 fps.
(sometimes it spikes down to 20 fps when more then 7 people are on screen)

Fallout new vegas im getting 40fps with the all low settings except textures.

This card i was thinking about is giving 50-60 fps on 1920x1080 with full settings on far cry 2.

I think that qualifies it as a big margin.

i cant really get more money because my parents are tight on their budget and i cant get a job at the moment with no transportation, so im stuck with the 160 i have.

maybe you should wait a while the prices are certainly gonna go down even more.

also ever considered buying a slightly used card on the internet for cheaper? it would be a good bet and cards these days dont break easily. i tried breaking an x1950 and after i ripped off about 20 transistors and a few caps it STILL worked normally. i had to stick a knife under the cpu to bend and short out some pins that finally killed it. so its worth a try getting something better but slightly used for your 160 bucks

thats the thing though, they might say they only used it slightly, but im not going to trust some random person to sell me stuff over the internet.

Bookmarked tah. I'll wait 'til after Christmas, when I'll have a fair bit more expendable moneys, and hopefully it might be a little cheaper by then...
