simply put, we need to obtain a clearer picture of this truck and im not that awesome at Photoshop so any help would be great! i know im not going to get the plate or anything like that, im simply trying to get the type of truck and color. the individuals in this truck stole another very nice truck fill of hunting equipment and a quad. about 60,000$ worth of stuff. the people who had these things stolen are my friends and i'd like to help them out.

Some more information than "Hi, fix this image for me, thanks!" would be good.

And i can't see no truck. And if it really is there i don't think there is much we could do to make it more visible, or what you are trying to achieve.

[edit] thats a car, still there is not much we can do to gather image data that doesn't exist. If you are trying to see the number plate on the car, i would think that is almost impossible.

Unfortunately movies and TV shows have given a false impression on 'image enhancing'...the best anyone could really do is get the color and maybe a make/model of the vehicle.

What happened? Gas drive-off or robbery?
edit: nvm, updated first post.

edit2: looking at it and 'enhancing' the image, I think it looks like a red gmc/chevy truck, standard cab and bed.

Not much you can do, like Josh Mooney said, there's no magic button that instantly increases an image's resolution. Garbage in, garbage out, unfortunately... This is the best I could manage, enhancement-wise.
It might be green, but that could be an artifact. I'd wait until someone else looks at it before jumping to any conclusions...and plus, almost every Jeep is green...

Its a reddish brown from what im getting here. You'd have to take into account the darkness so a lighter varient.

Its a pickup, judging from the lights and reflections. High front end so a 4x4. Silver trim across the bottom- underneath the doors. I think theres a roll cage behind the cab. I think it has a large grill aswell.

Thats all i could get anyway

There just educated guesses from pixel colour and scattering.

I'm pretty sure I got the color wrong, the camera is low-quality so it is tinted green, combined with the florescent lighting, so I might be wrong about the color altogether.

It could either be facing the camera or driving away from the camera, im not sure.

If its facing the camera then to me it looks like a Porsche, but if its facing away then it looks like a pickup.

It kinda looks like a late 80s or 1990 something Ford or GMC, judging by the shape, but I can't really tell.

Judging by the obscure randomness of the suggestions - no-one has a decent clue...

Why are CCTV cameras always such crappy quality?

Looks blue to me, but then again, it could just be the camera quality.

Yeh how do people in CSI make a blurry photo of someone in the background of an image high-res enough that you can read the fine print on his clothing label?

I wonder the same thing. When we're in an age where we can fit 1TB of information on something the size of your wallet, and cell phone cameras that take resolution 5x higher than that, there's no excuse to have such low-resolution security videos.

Too bad we can't do this.

Looks like a black or dark blue pickup truck to me, seems to be a newer body style (within the last 8-10 years) from the general shape. Not much else you can tell.

Most vehicles have lights on the license plates so you can see the numbers at night, that's probably what you're seeing.

I think it's a white number plate, in which case it is simply reflecting light. Although what the above poster said may hold true.

Enhancement techniques only work when there is enough resolution, or, multiple images - like a video feed. Like if there was a dozen images of the number plate, there is software that can enhance it based on all the images.

But sadly there's nothing there to enhance, the number plate is like 5 pixels high, nobody can fix that - except maybe that goth chick from CSI.

My question is if they stole the truck wouldn't you already know the licence plate on the stolen truck or did the cops already find it in a ditch somewhere?

The best bet is to check out places they might sell the stuff. They probably don't want to personally use stolen merchandise so they'll try to get rid of it.

Jeez. That CSI clip made me feel anger towards Hollywood for making the general public believe that any of that is possible.

However, that was so far-fetched that I'm sure the general public knew it was made up!

Can't help with identifying the truck as the image is to low resolution to extract any useful information.

The CSI clip though, one of the example programs which comes with the machine vision library we use at work (Halcon if anyone's interested) takes a 45 degree shot of a stadium and transforms it to a birds eye view. If I recall correctly, it works by identifying the angles and lengths of the lines in the running track and from that calculates how much to shift each pixel to change the perspective. It actually works remarkably well. Unfortunately it can't magnify an image 100 times to the point you can see the reflection in a persons eye perfectly .

I managed to beef up the resolution.

That's a '94 TOYOTA pickup.

Just kidding but that is the closest model I can find.
I would say it's a reddish pickup truck, the headlights are quite high up. The clearest feature of the vehicle is the slope of the roof.

If this isn't your friends truck (presuming it isn't as you don't know the colour or make) how is it going to help you?
Even if we find who stole the truck how are you sure it was the same person who took your friend's property?

Do you know what where this gas station is and what date it the image was taken?

Do you know the make and model of your friend's truck and quad bike and where they were stolen from and what date?

We may as well play detectives.

[edit] GMC is a good suggestion but to me the lights seem too high to be that.
