Cool, why is it on the history channel?
Looks like they are trying to keep the elements of the English version. That's good, but I hope they pull it off in their own style and not just a cheap imitation of our version.

I'm not expecting it to be great the first time around, I mean look at UK's season 1. I'm a little bummed that Corolla won't be hosting, but I'll try to keep a very open mind for this first episode.

I remember seeing a trailer for this. I think it looks like it'll be awesome. The presenters will clearly be doing it American-style, so I think it will follow a formula that you yanks like, and it won't be a cheap rip off. But ultimately, it looks like they will just be pissing about doing stupid things in cars, wasting vast sums of money and being childish, which is exactly what Top Gear is about.

I look forward to us getting it over here!

Insert piccy sig here. Eh? Why didn't that work?!?! Must ring help-a-noob. What was the number again? .... where am I?

Mmmmmmmmmmm.

I can't wait to hear Jeremy Clarkson's reaction to this, but it was inevitable that one of the few truly awesome programs we still have running was Americanised...

Next it'll be Doctor Who, M.D.

This is always my fear with off-shoots, I hope people from the British production team go over to help them get it set up.

The main things that make Top Gear great are beautiful cars, doing crazy things in/to cars, epic random missions, three dysfunctional guys trying to work together, and everyone having a laugh while doing it. You can do all that in an American style. Jeremy Clarkson actually has quite a stereotypical American personality, though he would hate to hear that which proves my point lol.

I probably wont see this as I don't think I get the History channel, but if I hear one of the presenters almost died making the first episode I'll know they're on the right track.

The fairly decent Paul McGann movie was half-American. And usually American versions are terrible, like Red Dwarf, and Big Brother US probably sucked, but that was never quality entertainment to begin with.

IMO, you should just watch the proper Top Gear. Just because you're American doesn't mean you need to be seperate from the rest of the world and try things your way.

Just don't complain when Jeremy Clarkson insults the Americans, because he insults everyone in existence, and that's why we love him.

They're been trying this here in Australia, it's getting better I guess, but without Clarkson, Hammond & May it's just another car show.

Look at Fifth Gear, it is the dullest program on tele, the only reason I ever watched it was because of Vicky Butler-Henderson
That's because Fifth Gear is an anorak's program, they tell you all the minute details of the inner workings of the car that 99% of people don't care about.
Top Gear doesn't care about all that stuff and just jumps in and shouts "POWEERRRRR!!!" as it zooms off. Top Gear isn't even really about cars. It's about blokes mucking about with cars.

I only ever saw the first episode of the Aussie one. Wasn't worth watching again.

Don't forget, Fifth Gear burnt down Top Gears cool wall and props!

It would definitely be smarter on their part to the make the sure more Americanized, but part of what I like about Top Gear is that it isn't American. I just hope the presenters don't turn out to be too much like rednecks.
