Since iOS 4 runs like turds on a 3G, I along with many other people, have stuck with iOS 3. The problem? Many developers seem to be upgrading their apps to work with 4 but they aren't compatible with 3 for whatever reason. Backwards compatibility seems terrible for the iPhone and it's getting annoying that I can't use apps that I used to have once they've been upgraded.

Does anyone know or have heard of a "legacy" app store?

That's (ios 4 software on an ios 3 platform) forward compatibility, and usually not expected or as big of a deal as backward compatibility, (where ios3 software should run on an ios4.)

Um, but, that's all I've got to contribute here...

I haven't heard of it no, and hearing from others rants about apples regulations on the app store, I seriously wouldn't expect one
