Right I keep seeing these status updates/groups on facebook and they're really starting to annoy me. Basically a group of Muslims burned a few poppys in protest.
They did it in protest of the innocent lives taken by British and American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan as a result of the war on terrorism (a protest which was peaceful and what I would think-of as being with the threshold of free speech) and as a result of this they where arrested for no good reason. Now I keep seeing people posting status updates on face-book saying Muslims should be burned to death and they should 'bleep' off home. Don't get me wrong I have the up-most respect for the sacrifices made by our soldiers in service of their country but by saying that someone cannot protest whether we agree with it or not is actually very hypocritical because our soldiers fought for our right to free speech and free speech is exactly what it says on the tin "free" meaning unconditional and limitless!

Why won't anyone love me?

They should be punished to the full extent the law allows in a situation like this.

People are retards though. I agree that people should be free to say what they want. It's OK to limit the antagonism of people in a public space though. How you define "public" is not simple, but I think it's OK to stop people from say, gatecrashing a funeral and being aholes. These people's protest was AFAIK made really close to where some people were being emotional and stuff, so it's OK that they be stopped from doing it there. It's not cool to say they should die.

Those people also praise this:

They have full right to burn those poppies as long as the US military kill their relatives with such glee.

I hate it when people try and fight logic with more ignorance.

As for the topic:

I don't really know what to make of this. I believe they should be punished based on there intentions, but it depends on who they were protesting.

Were they sad for the people who:

Got caught in the crossfire, and were neutral?

or

Attacking the U.S Army?

They burned a model of a poppy during a two minute silence marking the anniversary of Armistice day chanting "British soldiers burn in hell" and your surprised a few people got upset?

It seems fairly obvious the intention of this small minority group of Muslims was to provoke a reaction and they got exactly what they wanted. Obviously some people are going to overreact and spout a load of racist nonsense, but unfortunately freedom of speech goes both ways and applies to everyone, even the stupid.

this is enough to get me upset, and honestly no they dont deserve to die, BUT they should suffer severe punishment (in forms of a long jail time or alike) As i dont believe at all in death sentences, however no matter the reason that wasnt right anywhere.

Free speech = free speech is all I'm going to say.

You can get further with a smile and a gun than you can with just a smile.
