Does anyone have a recommendation for a good CPU heatsink?

I have just acquired a new Phenom processor, which is a fair amount more beefy than my old Athlon. Unfortunately the stock heatsink does not fit (AM2+ socket for both chips) and the original heatsink for the Athlon reaches worryingly high RPMs trying to keep it cool. It's idling at 50C.

Any recommendations for a low-profile and small-ish heatsink would be good.

Thanks

Well, just about any zahlamn is good. I have the 9800 aluminium version ( which is BIG, and still not the biggest ) but the more flat once are smaller. Look them up, since they make almost no noise ( at idle ) and they have awesome green leds ( if you get one with leds xD )

So yeah, for you I think the Zalman CNPS7500-AlCu LED will probably fit your needs ( still kinda big, what are the dimensions of "small-ish"?? ) and only 25 euro's here ( holland ).

Edit: Looked up some info, it should keep almost any AMD at 35 Celsius at idle and lowest speed. At lowest speed on max load ( crysis and alot of it ) it puts it on 50 celsius, still at lowest speed. So it should be fine. I think there is a full copper version, maybe that would keep it even cooler, don't know for sure )

Your missing the point of an after market heat sink...

Anyway, if price is nothing to you, then go with a corasir h70, if price does matter look at the OCZ vendetta or the Artic cooling freezer 7 for low end. Though for a good product you might want to either look at the Titan Fenrir, cooler master v6(best of the bunch), Akasa Venom or Thermaltake Frio

Edit:

@Isocadia, Agreed, Zalman made the best, unfortunately you rarely come across them anyway

Not really. If I had said I want a heatsink with a insufficient surface area, deafening fan and low heat dissipation then I would be missing the point of after-market. What I am looking for is a high-performance heatsink designed for HTPCs (ie. low-profile / small).

The maximum size for the base of the heatsink is 70x60mm as this is the part which is too big to fit.

or you can buy a new case, which is what I would recommend you if you can't house a 9300/7500 xD

But on a serious note, if your case is that small I would think about getting a new one.

The scythe shuriken is a pretty decent cooler from what I've heard. Its flat but has a 120mm fan on it. Don't know if that will be too big for you?, you mentioned some dimensions but were they for the typical tower type heatsinks?

I won't consider getting a new case as this is for a HTPC and as such the case cannot be any bigger than it is currently :s

The dimensions I mentioned were for the stock Athlon 5200+ cooler so yes, a typical heatsink size.
