Does anyone have this kit? If so, what do you think of it? I was trying to think of what to ask for this xmas and my girlfriend mentioned a robot as a joke. I used to have a Spykee which was awesome, but the motor broke after a few weeks and I had to send it back. I didn't get a replacement for various reasons, and the only thing that stopped me getting another one is the illusive SDK they promised has never materialized, so you can't program it!
There is also the Rovio (another Wi-Fi based 'control over the internet from any PC security bot'), but this is also flawed with crap docking and a poor camera where you can't see a thing in low light. However, apparently you can program this. So neither fits the bill.
Anyway, I started looking at all manner of robots, and they all either cost an arm and a leg, or require electronics skills. I'm not interested in that, I just want to program it to do cool stuff. So Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 seems like the best choice.
I've found docs which describe the Bluetooth protocol so I can program interfaces from my Android phone etc, which would be cool, or just laptop java apps. And I've seen loads of cool vids of people making rubix cube solving machines etc., so I'm convinced of the programmability.
So does anyone have this kit and how do you feel about it? I'm gonna see if I can blag it from my parents if people think it's worth the £200!
Insert piccy sig here. Eh? Why didn't that work?!?! Must ring help-a-noob. What was the number again? .... where am I?
