Geek Culture / Problems with ATI 5670 - low fps in MW2

Hello, I'm using an ATI 5670 1GB GPU, together with an i5 5670, 2.66GHz cpu, 4GB RAM in Win7 64bit, to play CoD MW2. I'm using the latest drivers from ATI.

I get fps as low as 8-10 (up to 70-80 when looking at floor in dark rooms) when in heavy action. Overcloking the gpu doesn't make much of a difference.

I've run this game on a laptop with a Core2 dual 2.6 and a Nvidia 9700GTs (a slightly lesser gpu, I think, than my ATI) and it used to run fine.
So what am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Quik

I'm guessing the 5670 HD is the cheapo card and not meant for high end gaming. I have the 5770 HD 1GB and it runs CoD WaW at 60FPS (synced).

hmm strange... strange indeed... altho this fps is expected if you are trying to run the game on full as this GPU isnt super grand, however it should be able to run it fine with slightly lower settings. also maybe its the driver

Give a little bit more info on your CPU... What I'm guessing is you have an Intel Pentium 4 2.66 GHz single core, which would explain the lag. It isn't fast enough to handle the game physics.

If not, what bus speed is your RAM set to? If you are using DDR2 or something like that, that would also explain the lag (333 MHz).

What you don't seem to understand is that a good GPU doesn't mean you have a good computer for running games. Your computer is only as good as the weakest link, meaning if your CPU is crap, your computer will be crap, no matter how good the rest of your computer is.

he said it was a core i5 2.6GHz, win 7 and 4 gigs of ram i am guessing its DDR3 because if its a core i5 mobo, it probobly supports DDR3 not DDR2

Why is there a comma after the "i5 5670"? I find that confusing

It seems I am failing to interpret it correctly, so ignore my last comment if you are using a core i5

yeah a 5670 cant have a 2.6Ghz CPU. the biggest CPUs graphics cards have these days are are like 900mhz

The latest ATI drivers are pretty much useless. Loads of bugs,I keep getting green objects and crashes in MW2 on 4770 while it runs on Very High.

You know i dont get this. one of the things that people constantly bash ATI for is Drivers. ATI dirvers suck dont buy ATI. and I bought MANY ATI card over my lifetime (recent 10 years) and really, i never had any problems with the drivers. i dont know why everyone bashes ATI.

Sure you can have a 2.6 GHz CPU, I don't see why not? The clock speed of the CPU, GPU and bus is independant.

Just some useless info here, but I heard that GPU's have over 200 cores in them. Calculated together, you easily exceed a Googleplex of processing power. Why don't they use this technology on CPU's?

He's talking about the clockspeed of a GPU can't hit 2.6ghz yet.

Cores on a GPU are different than cores on a CPU:

i thought that you thought that the 2.6CPU was a cpu on the graphics card -the gpu, but whatever i misunderstood what you thought, i know you are smarter than this
