Well a 16 year old kid got hit by a train near my house and he just got back up and started walking... He was walking on the track with his I-Pod on and he didn't hear a train coming from behind him and I guess he got hit but the train just popped the kid like 7 feet in the air! He wasn't hurt badly just some bruises but he told his mom and she reported it and it was on the news. No who just gets hit by a TRAIN! and keeps on walking??? I mean seriously!?!?!

Tell me what you all think!

I think that this is just dumb.

I mean it's cool, but what weirds me out is not the fact he couldn't hear it, but that he was walking on a railroad track.

It's like, "hey this kid was just walking in the middle of the highway".

Someone needs to find a sidewalk.

haha I agree. I think there was a story a while back where a guy got hit by a plane while running on the beach. It could of been in California but the plane needed to make an emergency landing and despite the odds he got hit because he was listening to his I-Pod!!

it's a little different than walking on the highway. A lot of people see tracks which are seldom used or think there's not going to be any trains on them. Not that long ago a girl was hit by a train because she didn't hear it coming with her ipod blaring. She, however, didn't walk away. And I seriously doubt this kid would've if he was really hit.

I googled and this is the closest I got...

http://www.morningjournal.com/articles/2010/12/06/news/doc4cfce2ad71f12081485298.txt

Regardless, that is quite a strange story... not many people live after getting hit by a, you know, train.

Yeah well that was a similar story but this kid didn't really get hurt... just a few bruises but this is in Arizona. Well you think when you get hit you would bump out of the way or go over. Or get ran over but this popped the kid in the air.

its gonna happen to me some day i know it. i always walk on the tram tracks with my headphones on. but i always look back once in a while to see if a tram is coming. they can proboly stop if the want but not if its going fast. i actually almost got hit by a tram that was going pretty fast, forgot to look back until i started to feel the rails vibrating and then looked back it was already closing in prettty fast of course i got out of the way before it hit me. also when i was a kid me and my friend always used to play chicken on the road, see how many times we can run across the road before we get scared that of a car hitting us. we got elled at by a lot of drivers. then we got bored of it and decided to start playing chicken with the train. now that was thrilling

speaking of trains, when my older brother was an angsty teenager with serios self control issues, he ran away from home and wanted to commit suicide by getting hit by a train. my uncle found him on the train tracks and dragged him back home. maybe this is a common story i think we all go trough that stage at some point. I know i did but i was too chicken to actually off myself

Stupid kids, don't they know better than to walk on train tracks? And they add to the danger by listening to music. In my opinion, anyone stupid enough to walk "ON" train tracks deserves to get hit. I mean you have the option to walk along side and of a safe distance from them and still get to where you want to go.

I once heard of a guy that fell out of a window from 9 metres height, and landed on his feet. He walked away as if nothing happened. A week later, doctors found he broke his spine at the back of his neck. Not sure what happened then though, but my point is that it may have looked like he wasn't hurt, but that's what human bodies are designed for. If a tiger attacks you and rips your leg open, your body will ignore the pain, and you will be able to run away. Later on, the pain starts to kick in.

The boy in front of the train probably had worse injuries than just a few bruises, but they only appear later on.

Well I would think it would hurt because he didn't land straight up. I am pretty sure he was sore from the landing but doesn't mean you get a broken bone. When I was little I like to go really high on playground swings and I got pretty high well one time I got above the bars which was like 8-9ft. And I landed straight up and it hurt pretty bad but I just walked it off. But ya let me get the story for you guys.

You could easily just walk underneath that or beside it in the woods, or here's a better idea, take a foot path.

It's foolish and hope his luck serves him well by teaching him a lesson and serves as an example to others (if this story is representative of what happened). Walking on a train track has its risks, particularly as they're used by trains. I know it's something a lot of people in the world like doing, but it is still pretty dumb. Cutting out an extra sense increases your chances of being hit.

Just doesn't seem sensible to me *shrugs*.

I read a book where this happened once - and it turned out the boy was actually a super-resilient alien space robot. You should be suspicous.

I saw a TV show, (post-watershed). It was of a person who got hit by a train at full speed. Well, he wasn't a person after he got hit, it was pretty grisly, and the head look more messed up than any horror flick I've seen...

The coroner said he essentially vapourised on impact, if this story with this kid is true, I'm really confused to how it's even possible.

here we are... It says he was treated at the scene and then airlifted but the title says he was able to walk after being hit which he was but he probably felt it later on.

Oh my.

Thats kinda awesome, I mean yes, I'm sure he would have prefered not being hit by a train, as would I, but you have got to feel pretty awesome about yourself after surviving being hit by a (and I can't stress this enough) train.

Aside from that I would say he is extremely lucky.

yes he is... so many people get hit by those trains on that track. I hope I don't get it on that track. In fact my friends parents got hit by it but his mom lived and his brother. The track is cursed...

Guessing the only reason he's alive is because of the cattle guard. I would like to see him try that here in the UK and then walk away, near impossible due to no trains having cattle guard's here.

Once I was struck by metal lightning, and I'm still alive and kicking, playing my guitar. Hahahaha!
Just kidding, of course.

But, a couple of years ago, there was a woman driving on the highway, and there was an accident and somehow a heavy goods vehicle fell upon her car...and she only had a few scratches. Pretty amazing too.

Cheers

Maybe because people exaggerate and the train was probably going about 10mph? It also depends what type of train. If it was designed like a car, with a slope at the front then the kid could have just rolled over. If it wasn't then he could have bounced off the front and the train was going slow enough to stop before it ran over him.
Some people get really lucky during accidents and come away without any serious injuries. The conditions are usually just right for them to survive, it's all explainable and if we had more information on this whole incident then we could figure it out. Either way, what happened to him wasn't as much of a 'miracle' as some other people. I read about a woman who fell from a plane after a hole got ripped in the hull and landed in some snowy mountains somewhere. She was only knocked out from the landing and managed to not freeze to death during the night, she then surviving the following few weeks without any training.
I'll try and find it again.

No its was going about 50 mph because as I said before it didn't give all of the details as when I saw it on TV. The reason they have the cattle guard on that train is because those blasted cows go everywhere. Someone should put em in a fence.
