Well, I recently upgraded my PC, and thinking I could turn my settings to max, I did this the first time I entered WoW ( exept AA and AF ), what I saw was nice, a steady 64 fps on idle. Then I started walking, and what I noticed kinda sucks. I don't know if it should be called lagg, but sometimes it seems as if my computer just skips a part in the animations/movement, and it's even worse when turning. You could say that I sometimes skip 1/8 of a turn while turning, but after turning 3 times, it starts skipping less. What helped was lowering my view distance and shadow quality.

What I was wondering was, does my problem lie with my GPU not being able to calculate/render all the new high ress shadows that appear on the screen, or is it my RAM that isn't fast enough to provide the new data, since I assume that they use fructum culling ( if I'm correct that's the name for not calculating polygons that are not seen ), when turning.

Here are my current specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 955
NVidia GTS250
4gb Corsair XMS 1600 ghz CL9 ( CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 )
Asus M4N98TD EVO
( maybe some compatibility issues with RAM/GPU, it has an NVidia Chipset so I guess it shouldn't with the GPU )
Corsair 750 watt PSU
Samsung f3 7200 RPM 1TB HDD

The reason I'm wondering what's wrong is that I might be able to get my parents to replace parts of my pc ( since they changed some parts in the store because they didn't want to wait for them ) and I don't want them to replace something that is working fine already.

I hope I explained my problem enough and that you guys will be able to help me.

TL;DR: WoW skips parts when turning with view distance on ultra with ultra shadows. What in my pc is lacking power to render WoW on ultra?

Happens to me aswell, the specs fault. It's low fps, however also could be the internet connection. Depends on how much frames the game runs at when you turn, and the latency.
These are my specs which fail epically when I max out the settings.

Intel Core i5
nVIDIA GTX 260M (1GB video memory)
4GB DDR3 RAM

Mind you, WoW renders it's shadows inefficient as HELL, I have them set to Low quality on purpose.. Sure it looks less shiny, but at least it'll run properly even in 40 man battlegrounds.

Well, when standing still, everything maxed out runs on about 55 fps, when turning when hoovering over the little computer screen it shows a drop to 20 fps. The only thing that I find strange is that the parts it renders are smooth, it's just that it sometimes skips parts of movements.

Ah well, guess I will turn my shadows down and wait for a better engine :p

You have to remember WoW is still running of the same crap it used back in 2004, and more stuff has been tossed into the engine to make it look shinier.. Sure it has been adjusted some, but that doesn't mean it functions as it should.. Try switching DBP to use DirectX11 libraries, I'm sure it'll cause massive issues and slowdowns if you keep some procedures the same or similar then it is right now.

And I know it slows down when moving, I'm guessing one of their new shaders goes all wacky with shadow effects, since the water tends to glitch every now and then as well with full shadow effects.
