I been thinking about buying a new gfx card and I want to stick with Nvidia as I always have. The cheaper the better, but I need something that will be useful for a few more years. That being said, the $30 8400 is obviously not sufficient (even if i like that price), but I'm not paying $400+ for the latest card either. I'm currently looking at a GTX 460 because reviews have mentioned almost identical performance to the 465 but slightly cheaper and less power.

The typical 460 seems to be 768mb at 192-bit interface. For a little more (about $30 depending on mfr.) you get the 1GB 256-bit. I was curious, how much difference would you expect between 192 and 256? Would it be worth the extra money

Ah I came to this stuff about a few months ago and I was thinking about getting a GTX 460 but then i looked at the performance rates and notices that the GTS450 had a little bit less performance but it was about $60-$100 less. Just letting you know.

I have a 460, It's excellent, If you want to see a real improvement over the 450, go for the 1GB Version, otherwise get the 450

Checkout the Gigabyte OC version, the one with two fans. I've had it for a while and I love it

I also have the Gigabyte SOC. So far its been great, even though it's OC'd, my idle temps are usually in the 20's, and at my resolution (edit: 1620x1050) it can take basically whatever I throw at it. Metro 2033 is downloading as I write this, and that's the only thing I'm a bit worried about.

Edit: Sorry, I was thinking old monitor, I keep doing this.

I'd hope so, that's not a very high resolution!
