The new Tron movie, Ive heard good things and Ive heard bad things. Has anyone seen it?
I am interested by the fact that DaftPunk did the music, and I think might just skip ahead and buy it without seeing the movie?

Good idea or bad idea?

It was pretty good; the music was great, but the dialogue was really bad.

It's a sequal, not a remake!

It's awesome!

I thought it was pretty awesome. Maybe because I'm in love with Olivia Wilde lol.

Great background music and sweet graphics. All around a good movie I thought.

Signature's are stupid.

I am a big fan of original Tron movie in 1982. And while this was a sequel, it felt like it tried to breathe new life into the franchise -- similar to what the last Star Trek movie did.

Plot was a little weak, with one major weakness near the end. But whatever, at least it had more plot than the original film!

Graphics were good except digital Flynn's facial movements were not very realistic at all. Maybe it is easier to make a blue alien face look more realistic than a human is, but Avatar did a much better job with its facial expressions and mouth movements. I would have thought a year later a newer movie would have been better at it.

Then again the facial expressions of the human protagonist was a little odd at times. That smile... I dunno.

Daft Punk Music was awesome, I wished there was more of it in the film. I might have to get the soundtrack.

I was entertained by it and will definitely get the DVD.

I don't remember the original Tron having such a great storyline though. Not that it's even an issue these days, because movies can provide more than just storyline, often it's enough for a movie to provide a visual or audible experience. Our brains have enough stories, it's good to unplug for a bit and just admire the pretty visuals.

Personally, I didn't enjoy it any less than the other movies I've seen in the past year... and I watch a lot of movies. Some movies are just cool without needing deep plot lines... like Machete, and Hobo with a Shotgun. Nobody wanted these films because the storyline looked engaging in those grind house trailers - they looked cool, and the characters are cool, we don't really need much more than that from these movies. In fact, it seems almost pety to critisize the plot in films like that. Myself, I'd rather tear modern horror films to shreds for sucking so bad - does anybody really care about yet another Scream film, or yet another SAW. I am looking forward to The Hobbit though, almost seems like the last movie(s) that will have a decent plot. IMO we've already seen the best movies we'll ever see.

Van B I agree on some of your points, but Legacy did have a good story.....In fact it is the hint towards what comes next after the credits role that makes your mind whirl. Disney have agreed on another so some web sites have stated, if you look at the film as just visuals you are missing the point.

Tron (classic) was about human immersion into a digital world, Tron Legacy is about digital imemersion into a human world and that the thin membrane that seperates them is only a membrane and not a barrier IMO.

Eh... I got a bit tired of all the cliche movie stuff. I guess it was well directed, but the movie certainly wasn't anything new.

Tell me if there's a broken link to images in a thread I post, and I'll fix 'em.

The original Tron was groundbreaking and inspirational. The sequel...um not so much, other than the CGI Neo-FLYNN, CLUE. However, it was relatively entertaining.

I wouldn't call the sequal ground breaking and inspirational. I would say it was cool though

The original Tron while remarkable for it's effects was boring as could be though!

Tron Legacy has the greatest soundtrack ever in a movie and brilliant FX but it has got some predictable points in the plot and it was a wee bit aimed towards kids too much but Jeff Bridges is phenomenal and I would highly recommend this film to anyone.
(Especially if you have a 3D TV like me)

I saw the trailer, and having not seen the original...it made absolutely NO sense.
