I've used Outlook Express (OE) on my XP machines for several years without problems till about a week ago. Since then whenever I open up OE it takes me straight to the oldest message in the list. It always used to take me to the either the last message I had highlighted or to the most recent message (not sure which it was now but it definitely wasn't the oldest message !).

I've looked through the various tools, etc, but can't find an option which allows me to change the setting. I thought there was an option to change the startup settings but I can't see one which affects this.

Any ideas? It's not a big deal but is annoying and puzzling.

You can try this, GG. When you're displaying your inbox click on the little bar labeled "received". Hope this helps?

Cheers

When I read your post I thought "What's the point of that? It'll just change the sort order.".

Well it worked - except I had to click twice to restore my original order.

What made you think of that?

Glad it did.

Not long ago, I followed a course for administration, and Outlook was also part of the lessons, and I remembered that little issue.

Cheers

I'm impressed. Those courses usually sent me to sleep after about 5 mins.

You'd better hide your email button. I keep encountering Windows niggles like that.

Yeah well, the most interresting parts were Excel, Access, and of course PowerPoint. Heheheheh!

Heheheh!
The Office packages do have their little annoying 'bugs'.
We had a great teacher. She was really good in explaining and teaching us the tricks. Once, one of the students had a weird problem, even the teacher didn't find what was wrong. I knew were the problem was, so I helped both of them out. Still, I learned a lot of our teacher too. But, as with most things, you need to keep practising, or you'll start forgetting.

The Excel bit might have woken me up - you can code in that.

You can code in all of them using VBA

Or with the later versions of office, you can even use .net to program them!
